Phantom 4 pro is advertised with huge range, around 7 kilometres. Today, the flying distance was less than 1 kilometer above the lake. Image transmission was unusable. Drone activated automatic return-to-home function twice. Live streaming was crap. Is it so that european models don't have such range as Phantoms sold somewhere else in the world? The situation has gone worse with every firmware update. Why it is not possibe to set transmission frequency setting to custom? I can only keep it in Auto. I can chage the frequency, though.
This investment has becoming more unusable after every update.

I own a P4P+ and after last firmware is WORSE, WORSE, WORSE than my previous P3A. With the previous one I was able to fly 2- 2,5 km far in the same area, now with the P4P+ I can't fly more than 1 - 1,5km.
And it is not a NFZ nor close to any.

I guess DJI knows why and I think nobody expects improvements in the future. It has turned in a marketing issue & false publicity and they are foolishing the customers...

The P4P remote knows its position and will automatically adjust signal strength based on local laws.
If you take your drone to the US you have much more range.
Thus it makes no sense to buy a drone in the US hoping you can fly it further in Europe.

In the P4P specs it says:
Max Transmission Distance 2.400 - 2.483 GHz (Unobstructed, free of interference)
FCC: 4.3 mi (7 km)
CE: 2.2 mi (3.5 km)
The furthest home distance I ever made in CE region was 2,6km.
Countryside, unobstructed view..

There is a workaround to get to custom settings:
Set the region on your device to US. I did so on my iPad Mini 4 and it works.
Under HD I tried all kind of transfer settings, tried the channels that looked best but live streaming didn't get any better.

It has been like this for long time. We end up with long selfie stick. I have P3S  on old Fw and it still goes 1000m to 1500m and will newer bee updated.

I got 5k on the latest firmware (FCC I think):

Great , 5173m for me today  ( 12kms roundtrip ) had to turn around to make sure  i have enough battery .

I don't know on Android. I think you have to create a new account with Google for that matter and define your region being USA. I'm sure someone here will know.
On an iPad or iPhone you go to Settings > General > Language & Region...

Remember when you are on "Custom":
The channel you select won't be changed if it gets weak.
I think on AUTO the channel is being dynamically chosen during operation according to strongest signal.
In Custom it will hold onto the preset channel.
Good luck. It didn't make any changes for me, no matter if I chose 2.4 or 5.8 GHz.

I would recommend you to check the channels of image transmission settings when the reminder pops up.
