Greeting operators,

I have quite a weird experience with Spark... I read lots of topics and people complaining they unable to get further than 300-500 meters with controller. Seems to be a real issue for them, but I could not get further than 50 meters though.

1. I am using the latest firmware both for Spark and controller.
2. I am pointing antennas right.
3. I am using 2.4 WiFi.
4. Using the latest DJI Go App with iPhone, still using the controller to fly.

Still when drone reaches aound 40-50 meters distance and 40-50 meters altitide - it first drops the video feed, then lost the connection to controller and finally goes RTH. This is even in an areas not crowded with other networks or any interference sources.

So, I wonderm if this is a common case and to get it 100 meters far is a dream, or there is something wrong going with the Spark/Controller? If so, what could be the steps to investigate, look further and troubleshoot?

Thanks,
Safe flights!

Just to be sure, how do you point the antennas?

Pointing antennas to the craft, with the long parts facing towards.

Here is the actual log from that flight... http://app.airdata.com/main?share=UuyFCL

the worst thing - it does not reconnect back to the controller.

Hi RZIMIN,
I have the similar situation in Russia (Moscow). Max distance = 100 m, max altitude - 110 m.
Some pilots with parabolic boosters are flying for miles - May be frequncy (5,8G) is an answer? Also I want to try not using Wi-Fi between RC and a phone + switching off LTE + Wi-Fi on the phone.

100 by 100 would be a dream to me with this piece of useless metal...

That particular flight was with a phone switched to flight mode, so no BT (some mentioned they got a good result with BT turned off), but was connected to a controller thorugh WiFi... should not be the case though. Anyway - I would give a try with OTG.. however expect to have same results. Will try 5.8G as well, however in theory that would limit the connectivity even more.

I se where are you coming from..  it would display you the limit reached. I was able to fly 50 meters from home point on that date on 8 meters altitude... But I would double check that next time...

And it would not drop the video feed and controller once reached the beginner mode limit, which is the case here.
