Nice machine but a terrible "Goofy" mistake offering the finish in black. Dji should relize this is not a Sony TV or amp where a black color is accepted.

With all the processing going on the fans will run wide open in the sun trying to dissipate the extra 10-15 degrees of adsorbed heat from the sun.  Major mistake!

I have now three Phantom 3 Pros and an Inspire  grounded with melted down video output boards (No Output Video)  and my machines are white - This machine will be an oven just cooking the components and shorting their life. Just like the Mavic you can't even put your hands onthe bottom of the machine if it sits on a table for over 5 minutes.

They've been changed of the shipping date now and told the customer by end of October 2017 because to many order. DJI can't keep their promise. What a shame and I have Pre-Order/Paid since Sept 10, 2017.
I need to bring this Mavic Pro to my trip to Asia on Oct 22.

Now that's a good looking drone,Black makes it way easier to see long distance.
Way too go DJI. I thought about spray painting my P3A but thought it might raise the internal temp so I didn't.

You might be impressed with the New  Phantom 4 Rain Wet Suits that come in all black that allow you to negotiate rain better with any Phantom 4 drone.

Perhaps you will succeed in selling one or two raincoats to very very naive people. But truth is that your $ 69.50 clothing does not help prevent the water from being sucked into the vessel's interior by the built-in fan.

Looks like they are doing something to the gimbal. I think they are fixing the gimbal flip issue that has been happening on the p4p. They just dont want to come out and say it. This might make me order one

The black color will have no effect on the heat of the drone as that comes from the motors and those are aluminum and can withstand incredible heat as high as 200 to 300 degrees but since they only get to be about 105 degrees on  a hot day,   no issue with color on the drone.

When you say components , are you referring to anything inside the drone  or just the outside components >  

We have a couple of these on order now for are news teams , anything else we could learn about those new components would be great .

I just mean anything colored black.

I am ALL FOR these "incremental" improvements.  No need to start completely from scratch with this series. CONTINUE to make a bird that uses THE SAME BATTERY!!!.  Thats a very good thing.

No need to add the expense of an entire new mold for a new bird IF you continue to make small improvements...like QUIETER motors and esc's, say....and I don't have to buy all new batteries.
Keep the birds WHITE and maybe try to develope one that stays COOL without using a loud fan.

I got the email saying the Obsidian was available to order, so I did. Now it will be interesting to see how long it takes to get here.

i believe nothing else than the firmware update resulted in trouble with the gimbal for a lot of users, and sad it is that it seem to take half a year to get the thing right again.

It looks so much more professional, and will not ger dirty as easily as the regular version. And besides all that, it's really cool. I think DJI is testing their market about design, launching a version that has the same technical features.

I think you'll find both drones will get as dirty as each other LOL - its just that the black case won't show the dirt as easily but I always clean my drones after every flight session anyway so makes no difference.

As the thing by firmware has been made impossible to use as promoted, a 20Mpix camera with 4K recording mounted on a stable flying platform, i will call it bricked yes.
I thank you for the offer, but i think i would better return it and get all my bricks back from the dealer.

Ordered mine over the weekend and just waiting for a shipping acknowledgement. I am sure this will be easier to find in the sky. Hope so anyway.

The Obsidian is looking more appealing...thinking of picking this one up.  

Why in the world would DJI announce this back in August and still not have ready to ship? I placed one of the first preorders for it, and waited for six weeks before I finally realized after doing more research that I should of course just wait for the P5. Thank you DJI for giving me some time to cool off regarding the P4P Obsidian. Waiting for the P5 now thanks to your strange behavior.

It's official, Obsidian is truly in my opinion a beautiful copter !  It's not black, it's basically a shiny dark grey color. It took me just a couple of mins to activate ! Super easy and had absolutely no problems with activation. Glad I tossed the idea of purchasing the MPP and instead pick up the Obsidian instead !

Calibrating the Compass seems to put a lot of stress on the gimble motors with my p4p+, do you or have you had the same problem?

Yes. My gimbal started with the Gimbal motor overload after a compass calibration. Gimabal is not working anymore. Something is wrong with the gimbal of this P4P. Too manu posts reporting about this error

Has there been anything said about accessories being black too?
I know the extra batts are, but what about the prop guards etc.?
