I've been working on a project where we built a medium sized hex copter and need to attach a gimbal to it: are there legitimate ways to attach a DJI gimbal to a 3rd party drone?

Which gimbals/cameras would work for this?

The biggest problem I see is the protocol between the gimbal and your flight controller. Do you use a DJI flight controller like the Naza?

We don't, we're actually operating off of our own. That being said, we do have access to a DJI flight controller and SDR downlink: Could we use that as a comms system?

Sorry that the DJI gimbal must work with DJI products.
