Hi, couldn't find anything on this topic. Can someone help direct me and tell me how does one record a timelapse or Hyperlapse using the Spark.

Spark itself doesn't support time-lapse or Hyperlapse shooting, but you can realize it via Timed shot. For example, one picture is one frame on a video, and a video has 25 frames/second, that means you need to shot 25 pictures for a second. Then you need to shot 5*25=125 pictures if want a timelapse video with 5 seconds, and you need 125*5=600 seconds to finish the whole shot. After finish shooting, you need a software to composite, you can search the tutorial on the internet. Hope you succeed.

That would for sure be a nice feature.
But manually will work also (if you can take enough photo's)

I tried. Using the interval shot feature. One photo every 2 seconds.
Parked the spark in the air until battery ran out.
Imported the 355 photos to iMovie and set each for .1 second duration. That gave a litte more than 10 seconds of time lapse video.
It was shaky because it was very windy. Even after iMovie had stabilized it, there is a black bar at the side of some of the photos.
But it works.

My first quick try (speed up in Pr) allow some time for YT to process for better quality (uploaded 20s ago)

Unintended motion is very hard in timelapses.
Maybe try and fly very very slowely.

Looks good to me.  The second one even smoother.  What was your method?

How about you take a video and speed that up?
Aproximate less shaky b/c of digital stabilising during capturing.
Thats how I am doing it since most actioncams aren't be able to to, what almost every 50 US$ smartphone can do.

The issue with speeding up is that the digital stabilization is not aware of the skipped frames.
With (for example) the iPhone timelapse function, the software is stabilizing motion between just the recorded frames.
That looks very smooth.
Now the digital stabilization of Spark will just look at the previous frame and align them.
If you skip some frames to speed up the footage, it will not have that digital stabilization so you have to do some post processing to get that affect (loosing resolution / sharpness in the process).

True, but that reduces resolution and sharpness.
If you can do it (digital) in camera, you don't have that problem, as there are more pixels on the edges that the digital stabilization can utilize.
But this can't be done in post, since that is already a 1080 crop.
So when Spark would have a timelapse function, it could use it's digital stabilization to create 'warp' like smoothness like the iPhone (and others) can.
Not only dropping frames for speeding up, but also calculating the difference between frames for stabilization.

A timelapse function in Spark would be nice ...
You would need more then 1 battery to really get somewhere though ... A pitstop function for switching batterys during a timelapse would be amazing

That would make for gaps in the video right?
But I agree 10minutes is short for Timelapse

Thanks for your post. I have followed your instructions, but for some reason, when I import into iMovie I change the photo duration on iMovie, the shortest duration is 0.2 seconds (rather than 0.1). Any ideas why?

You can use tap to fly and fly very low speed and record video, adjust speed in post production and you get some same effect.here some techniques(works on Spark) incl tap to fly
