RAW is a must so that we can edit our videos and images; limited with JPEG

Well, for me the 2 axis gimbal and video resolution are fine - that's what I got with the Spark.

But the option to get RAW photos and maybe a D-Log video is just a "Software" option that should be easily enabled.

I dont care that much for d-log but dammit I have my fingers crossed for RAW/DNG support. Hopefully on the next big update.

We have to buy a Mavic for that!...

Given the target audience I do not see the point of RAW support, but if it's easy to implement I can see it would make some others happy. I would appreciate some basic image settings though (sharpness, jpeg quality etc.).

What I am really missing is 16:9 mode without having to do post editing! That would make framing also much more consistent between video (also 16:9) and photo mode.

I was flying my phantom today and took dng and jpeg but jpeg have more resolution than raw how come.. i prefer jpeg?

If the Mavic was as small as the Spark and had the same picture quality, then maybe. But I bought the spark because of it's size (flight size and weight that is due to country regulations plus the travel-factor).

True, packed the sizes are almost the same - but the Mavic draws way more attention then the Spark once they are in the air

missing 16:9 mode? You can use any image editing app to crop your pictures to 16:9 . Do not see the problem here.

In another Forum a DJI Guy said the engineers at DJI told him that the RAW feature won't be implemented.

I mean, its quite understandable. RAW is great for photographers - if the Spark would have it, 80% of all photographers would buy a Spark instead of a Mavic or Bulky Phantom since they may don't need any of the video features.

Hmm unfortunately this makes sense.

I would hope that DJI would comment this and make it clear if they will ever make this feature available or not.

I would really like these options.

The Spark has a lot of potential but it is seen as just a toy for DJI.

The reason I am not investing in more accessories for the Spark is because I may want to buy a Mavic. However the Mavic has just received a small update.

I would understand that if Spark was a $200 drone. But its NOT actually that cheaper though than some better DJI options. Throw in the controller and some batteries to make up for the flight time and look at the price.

Remember that not everyone wants to own a Mavic due to size during flight and weight. That is important in some countries due to their regulations and also changes the way people react to a drone. Small ones tend to cause much less trouble with other people nearby.

are you looking at the shots using a true raw editor or something that converts it first before displaying it

to make full use of the RAW image format, you need to have a great lens with good lpm and a large sensor
I don't think the spark with it's tiny sensor and phone quality lens can provide the image resolution to make it work while to implement RAW

No, because that would be too competetive to Mavic.

Its not about sensor or lens. Just policy.

Raw lightroom/photoshop etc ..

I am waking up every morning hoping there is a firmware update that adds DNG/RAW to the Spark. Perhaps tomorrow they will add it...perhaps.

Sorry but that's just not correct. All JPEGs start by being raw data. The Spark doesn't make that data available to users to interpret it as they choose. There is no reason (other than poor processing technique) why raw images from the spark should be inferior to JPEGs.

Yes you are absolutely correct.

As a minimum, DJI could add some selectors to reduce the contrast, sharpness and saturation like other camera manufacturers do when they don't want to deliver the log files. This would offer us more possibilities in terms of color grading.

This would be a good compromise between nothing and log!

And also it would not concurrence the Mavic since he also has the 24p / 60p frame rate options, a much better fly range and battery life that make it a better option for advanced users.

At least a more flat color profile option like "neutral" with less sharpness / contrast / saturation ?

I think d-log would be a great add on for Spark video,

Agreed, we need flat profile for video. But overall quality of video is astonishing. Really love color balance and detalezation of picture for such a small piece of hitech.

agree for raw format in Spark Pictures.
the price of the device must include this option...

I'd really love RAW as well. D-LOG would be nice, but for me RAW for pics would be more important.

Raw please please ......... .......perhaps in Spark Titanium with quiet props and posh paint job extended flight time .............with a tasty  price premium .....?
