When is this product coming out? This was shown at the CES

DJI revealed the Inspire 1 Handheld Camera Mount, a single-grip, streamlined camera gimbal for the Inspire’s 4K camera. This is an awesome product that comes packed with some great features to help you get the most out of the Inspire.

The handheld mount also includes a toggle switch for the unit’s two modes of operation. The first mode being a tracking mode which locks the rotation of the camera on a specific point for ultra-smooth tracking shots, and the other a follow mode for smooth panning shots. Recording is controlled via a button on the handle, which also includes an internal microphone and an input for an external mic.

The internal battery reportedly offers a run time of the gimbal and camera of 1 hour and 10 minutes, which is fairly competitive with other cameras on the market.

My local retailer has it on the online shop since the CES but with no price tag and availability date.
Looks like a great product, perfect to complete the inspire 1 Inflight video.

I preordered without a cost from intelligent usa.  Hope they release soon!

I was hoping to get my hands on one of these before RIAT this year, but it's looking doubtful now.

I just think they owe this item to all of us beta testers of the Inspire 1 at no charge. Christmas in May?

It was said it was coming in an email to users today.  Hopefully soon.  I was able to play with one and break one at CES.  I know my bad.  They are great units and a perfect fit for the Inspire camera and the App.

Hello Ed,

I received my email today and it just says coming soon...  But at least it is still in the works! Additionally DJI said some new app features are coming in three months that are similar to the Phantom 3

It would be nice if they gave us some more detail

Now this is exciting to hear!! I can't wait until they release this stuff for us to use. I am hoping this summer we will be able to use the automatic flight routes on the DJI pilot app.

All we have officially from DJI about the Inspire 1 Camera Mount is the "Coming Soon" photo on the website and Michael Perry's announcement to us at CES 2015 back in January that it would be available in Q2 of this year.  Since Q2 is officially over tomorrow, I would like to know if DJI could give us an update of what to expect with the Camera Mount so that we won't be stuck in the dark wondering and waiting!  A reply would be greatly appreciated!

No point asking folks - you won't get updates, just announcements and some time after then some product will eventually be available to purchase.
It will be here when it is here and no amount of forum posts will change the situation.  

DJI has limited engineering and manufacturing resources and is focussed elsewhere and on other products - I'm sure we will get this product (and the long awaited I1 Nav functionality) at some stage down the track.
If your needs are urgent, then shop around - plenty of Video cam options out there to choose from!

Ed,

I just reviewed the developer site and the App they are looking to BETA Test, but looks like it doesn't have waypoints or automated flights on grid etc.  Also looks like all the features are only suitable with iPADS or new iPhones that have the cellular option to make use of barometers for more accurate altitude settings and features.  Therefore it doesn't appear to be integrated into the current DJI Pilot App.

Still waiting on waypoints, Dynamic home Point (as described in the manual!!!) for i1.

Seems like the project has been abandoned.

Maybe it will be implemented with for i2 . . . . . .

I agree, but the silence should be over soon. I can only hope they release this by August.   I would like one for my projects and only hope the cost is not excessive

I understand that making products takes time that things happen that make release dates get pushed further out.  

However, if you have a major company with many consumers wanting your products and tell them that a product is going to be available in a certain time frame, then it would be courteous to at least update them if that release changes.

I know there are plenty of other video cam options to choose from, and I have been looking elsewhere.  However, I do not want to purchase another product and then have the DJI Camera Mount come available the next week.  A timeline estimate would be helpful in that regard.

As RichJ53 said, "Ed... anything you can say?"

I believe that the original announcement by DJI was a release BEFORE the end of Q2.  It does look very interesting.  I for one am waiting in eager anticipation

I am wondering if they are going to shelf it for now.  I find it interesting that they not only don't give information BUT if you go through their own website, you have to look for older web pages to find it.  Nothing new.

The handheld gimbal is in stasis and Rich has asked for enough feedback.  I think a simple yes or no from DJI on if they are even going to ever release it would be a good idea at this point so we can move on rather than standing in a line to a theatre that is never going to open.

I wonder if the handheld gimbal is going to have issues keeping a horizontal line like the drone.

As you can see, not much help...

They make great drones but definitely don't understand the importance of keeping the customer patient with some just solid honest answers.  The garden variety "it's coming" is to my ears synonymous with "The check's in the mail."

I can see this being released before the holidays. I mean, that is what I would do. Something like a later October release.

I was beta testing the AutoFlight Logic 2.0 App (third party) and the follow me does work for the Inspire 1. DJI released the new firmware and App features for the DJI Go App and I was not part of this group. I do not know why they decided to delay or not include follow me for the Inspire 1.
