Nice job as usual. The Fog acted as a Softar Filter. The Link doesn't work Jim. You have to cut and paste. Not a biggie.

Hey Jim.  Beautiful shots.

One question - where do you get the music you use with your clips?

Thanks!

Music files are all over the place. Google "Royalty Free Music" There are sites that will sell the tracks also Royalty Free.

Really like your work Jim, combination of the two can be tricky at times, especially in close quarters.
It would be great to catch up with you when I get back to sydney and have a chat and a fly.

Yeah it's not mine it belongs to Dennis Washington and it's his tender for one of his yachts. It's a 7,000,000 dollar Eurocopter, pretty nice bird indeed. The yacht is pretty sweet too!

Dennis has a few bucks, he owns a few yachts like this position strategically around the globe. He doesn't care much for traffic so the helicopters come in handy when he wishes to get to his jet at the airport. He is the owner of the Washington Group of Companies and owns his own railroad, huge mine, a company that makes curled up wingtips for jet airliners amongst a whole bunch of other things! Self made man. Real nice guy too! His son Kyle owns Sea Span in Vancouver and they acquired China Shipping lines fleet as well. So I suppose it's a matter of scale... Clearly out of my league hahaha! Yes these are the same people that own most of the money in the world that we average humans have come to despise. At the same time we realize that if we were them we wouldn't be complaining!  DJI may soon reach  this level of wealth?

Nice vide jim!

I'm sure you would have used the POI feature to shoot the statue had it been available to you.

POI = Point of Interest under the IOC setting = Intelligent orientation control (Flying in F Mode)

I assume you had Anti Fog Props on your Inspire when flying in these conditions   funny thing is the manual says not to fly in smog

Heh!   Luckily the fog wasn't thick or even near me when shooting.   Don't know if I would ever use automated gimbal movements, I much prefer having it in follow mode and using the bird to make the moves.

I find it funny every time I watch UAV footage I think of the scene from the movie Soylant Green when Edger G Robinson is dying seeing beautiful nature shots on a large screen.

Thanks!  Love to hear positive feedback!
In this vid all depth of field, as well as bokeh/lens flares, were done in post.

I created power windows around the action and tracked them, before adding some mist/blur to the other areas.

I actually double-graded this one.   First got all the looks, depth and vignettes and so on in DaVinci, but then kept tweaking in FCP.

If you want to see it in all its glory download the ProRes version from Vimeo, it's nice to see it without any mush and artifacts.

Hi Jim,
I learned a lot thanks to you about FCP post video corrections. I studied the LUTS options and they are really amazing. I have one question,
Where can I find external LUT files. you mentioned in your tutorial 2 the LUT "Ocean Sun" where can I get for example that LUT file?
Thanks again for spending the time and posting these great tutorials.

Thanks Robert!  You'll find the link in the tutorial video when I first start talking about the LUTs.  Be aware that if you want to run these in FCPx you need to buy a third party plug-in first to allow you to run LUTs.   They can be used as is in DaVinci though.  The LUTs themselves are $49 from memory.
