Ended up getting my orientation backwards and flew into a tree and snapped the gimball in two.  What are my options?  Surely it's not to pay $700.

Second swivel joint away from the camera.  Also the black cable broke.

Hate to storm on your rainy parade, but it sounds like you'll be needing a new gimbal/camera.I've seen it happen lots of times with Phantom pilots.
Post a pic so we can see if it's salvageable.

Are you familiar with Course Lock and Home Lock controls under the NASA-M settings?

How long have you been flying?

My own experience is the normal Phantom controls are easily confusing.  So I usually use Course Lock and Home Lock.

This was actually my 4th or 5th flight.  I just got turned around and it was too far away for me to tell how close it was too the tree.
