Thanks!! The first one was shot at 2 seconds and the rest 1 second.

Hi,  For a beginner can you expand on how you adjusted the settings to shoot stills at 1 and  2 seconds.

These are some of the best city photos Ive ever seen

Fantastic.
Cheers

Thank you all again. I love seeing the nice comments from everyone!

The storm had just passed by me and was heading North away from me. It was a few miles away already. I was actually upset that the first time I took off and set every setting up I realized I didnt have the SD card in the Mavic. By the time I brought it back down, put the SD in and took off again, the lighting strikes had decrease in frequency. I was still happy I was able to capture a few little ones and then this one

That very same thing happened to me the other evening in a rush to capture a gorgeous sunset.. Took off 80 m up I'm like  F*** the sd card was still in my Mac.. won't make that mistake again lol.

Thank you Rob! You will need to set the camera to manual mode. From there you will be able to change your ISO and shutter speed. Depending how bright or how dark your your subject is would determine how you set the settings. I always try to keep the ISO as low as possible to keep the noise down, but i have shot at ISO 1600 before and weas very surprised at how well the Mavic does as such high ISO. You'll need to play around with it to find the sweet spot

This is the only shot I've gotten round to posting. I will post more. It's shot from Sussex coastline in the UK.

Outstanding photos!  As everyone has said previous to my post, your work is consistently outstanding!

Any though to getting some post-Irma shots?  Hopefully, you suffered no loss.

Thank you for posting and sharing, both your work and your techniques.

I've been wanting to take a few aerial shots of the damages but the airspace has been very busy with news and first responder helicopters. Also small aircrafts are also all over the place since the airport was closed for a few days.

Asainz320, regarding your lightning shot in your footage earlier in the thread, what would you consider to be the best or optimum setting for say shooting an approaching thunderstorm which displayed High lightning activity say at a range of 10-20 miles away ?  Would you hover and shoot in real time or is there a way to do a very long exposure say  10-20 secs to capture multiple strikes in one frame ?

Appreciate your views on this.

Cheers

Hey Rob!

With the Mavic you will only be able to shoot up to 8 seconds, but that would be way too long of an exposure even for this drone. The resulting image will be way to blurred out do to the movement of the quad. I would try to keep it under 2 seconds and shoot continuous (one shot right after the other). If you've done lightning photography before you'll know that waiting for the lighting to hit will be too late to capture it lol.
It also depends on what time of day it is. If its during the day I would use an ND filter. An ND16 or ND32 would work to be able to increase the shutter speed and not have your shots overexposed. If its during the night you will not need any filters.
If its multiple lighting strikes you would like to capture on the same frame then I suggest grabbing a bunch of shots of the same frame without moving the drone and then any lightning you capture on a few of the pics will make for a great composite shot. You can put them all together in the same picture using photoshop

Thank you guys! Yes the first one is a real lightning strike. It took me about 10 minutes to capture. I can share the original dng file if you guys like. As for the Mavics firmware, I always update to the latest one so I was already on .1000 when I took these. Again thank you guys so much for the nice compliments. I will post more when I get some more
This is a close up of that lightning strike!

Seems like you waited for the right shot to appear. Nature is at it's most beautiful here.

You should be able to do that through the camera settings on the app.

Very Nice!! did you use a filter for these shots? Also what editing software do you use? I wonder in lightroom will work?

DJI Spark should have RAW picture option. This mini drone is super.
