I read that after the lastest firmware update.  Many who live in nfz can no longer use their Spark even in just gesture mode, both indoor and outdoor.  Can dji enable the use of gesture mode in nfz?  I see no harm is Spark being used in close proximity to take a few selfies indoor or even outdoor under gesture mode.

It is not recommended to fly the drone in NFZ, even if the drone is being used in close proximity. It is not able to start the motors if the drone detected that it is in the NFZ.
