Hi all,

After being grounded for almost a month, I would like to fly my Mavic again next weekend. My Android DJI Go 4 app automatically updated to 4.1.8 yesterday, but since I read all kinds of complaints about firmware v01.03.1000 (fly aways due to sudden home-point changes, over-exposure, strange gimbal behaviour, problems with flight data), I was wondering if I should upgrade the firmware too, or just leave it as it is now (v01.03.0900). Are there Mavic-pilots out there that don't have any problems with the Android Go 4.1.8 - Firmware v01.03.1000 combination?

Kind regards, Lambie

Had mine out this weekend, and had absolutely no issues. Infact the previous firmware was giving me issues with not being able land within 4 ft of the home position on a return to home.

I updated the last firmware and I've lost signal and video 3 times in a 5 min flight. So now I'm afraid to update again.  For now my Mavic is just sitting again. The first couple updates worked great for me. Now it seems I am updating just to see if I can finally fly without problems. I would have never sold my P3 to buy the Mavic if I would have known how bad it was. I never had any problems with the P3 .

Apart from the Flight Data issue, which DJI Support has confirmed to me via email that it's a DJI Assistant 2 issue (which they are aware of and working on). I've had no issues at all.  Flight performance has been faultless.

I have the latest firmware (on everything, Mavic, Googles, and RC). .1000 works great. I have done a number of flights with no issues.

I have the latest firmware (on everything, Mavic, Googles, and RC). .1000 works great. I have done a number of flights with no issues.

I only recently purchased my Mavic Pro. I didn't even notice what firmware was on it from the factory, but the first thing I did was update everything (the aircraft, the controller, and the 3 batteries) to 1000. The process was a bit clunky, I got an error message one one occasion, and I thought I had to update one battery twice, but the Mavic has been a solid performer.

One thing that gave me problems because I didn't know it was there, was a small piece of the clear packing tape that was still covering one of the forward pointing object avoidance sensors... nothing would calibrate correctly! Once I found and removed that tape, it's been plain sailing. 42 flights so far without any problems that are firmware related.

If you don't want to update, don't do it. Simple.
If you were flying fine on previous software then continue

No problems with .10 here that were not here before. I have had a few gimbal/camera resets while in flight on the last few firmware versions, not just on .10. Its pretty scary whaen it happens. Hoping one of these firmware flashes will fix it.

I've flown several times since the update with no issues to report. My preflight routine includes shutting down the app and restarting just to be sure the home point is set correctly.

Good job! You might want to report the tape issue to DJI (I didn't have that on mine) since that could trip up other people.

It has to do with something that we can't talk about on here without getting in trouble. Closing loopholes. I geuss i can say that?

"You can make the decision according to the specific situation" implies that there are specific situations in which it is better to update, while there are other specific situations in which it is better not to update. That makes me curious what these specific situations are...

I won't upgrade as its my understanding that I'll be limited to 90 meters because where I fly I do not have wifi or cell coverage.  Can anyone confirm that? Besides the only issue I have had was a run away when trying to follow a RC plane. When it lost the lock it quickly flew backwards for some reason.
