500 metres as per my country regulations. Besides, I think that not keeping VLOS is asking for problems. In fact we have had a couple of issues where keeping VLOS distance is what saved the day. If you have your bird 3 km. away, there is little you can do if something goes wrong. And recovery is much more difficult, if your drone does not crash land.
For instance, one time the C2 radio link was complely jammed by a external signal, we can not recover it even after several reboots of the ground station, we had video downlink but that's an unidirectional separated process from the standard C2 signal used for drones control & telemetry. After all, C2 frequencies are standarised and can be recognised by any listener with other interests than yours. C2 links are encrypted but can be jammed with enough noise.
Another important consideration is that the C2 link does not degrade linearly but quadratically. When distance doubles there are 4 times a less powerful signal:
