To tell you the truth, I really do not know.  This was low tide when we went out, so we could see them.

You are right it is "killer place"! The video is great I like it a lot. At first I watched video then read information you wrote it complete the story. Thanks for sharing!

I have tons of footage from flying at this place for over a year now.   DC flyers don't have that many choices but this is a good location.  I only hope the drone police (park officials)  does not  stop me from flying there.  Early morning sunrises is very good here.  I actually landed my P4 on the ship once -just because I could.  It was something!

I'd be afraid I wouldn't be able to launch after landing due to magnetic interference! Couldn't launch in a salvage yard once for that reason, and here you'd be on iron instead of just surrounded by it!

Nope, park officials were awesome to us.  Very friendly and was interested in the drones.  Also, we chatted them up and they were giving us some history on the park.  Good people

I landed but  I was not brave enough to stop the props....  There was a lot of dust flying so I hooved in place above until the props blew it away.  Went real smooth and it was something I always wanted to do-land out of line of sight.  It is odd though that all of the time I have spent flying around this ship, sometimes just a few feet from the deck of the ship and even when I landed I have yet to get any error messages.  Its like the ship was made of asphalt-which it is not of course!

Wonder if the Mavic, being closer to the ground, is more sensitive? Anyway, probably a prudent decision to not let the motors stop!

i think the compass are in the legs on most dji products they were on the p3s and p4p

Thanks for sharing.. though "massive" is not the word I would use in relation to WWW 1 considering other nations "national wartime effort" into what was probably one of the most wasteful costly and horrid wars in modern times.  Very interesting footage though and thanks for the description as I was wondering the whats and the whys..   why were they wrecked then?  Do you know?  Very interesting..
