Why are the spark batteries 3 times more expensive than your standard lipo?? i know they are "smart/intelligent" batteries but 3 times as much....?

I normally pay from £12-16 for a 1300 3s on any hobby site and these set you back a popping 60-70 quid depending on supplier :/

Feeling robbed :/

DJI -> premium product -> higher cost
Standard lipo's require a decent lipo charger, probably costing from £40 for a cheap one to hundreds for a good quality one. DJI have built all the charging protection into the battery so you can charge them safely, on your drone or in the charging block. I have personally seen what a lipo can do when they are charged badly or ruptured. I would happily pay the extra money for a DJI battery, knowing I'm walking around with five potentially explosive devices in my bag that are designed to be safe to carry.

They have built in circuit board which controls the batteries charging, information to and from the drone .. etc

Being smart AND being DJI. That combination is worth more than your average battery.

fatshark is the same way with their "smart" batteries.  it just comes with the territory.  it's a proprietary accessory.  expect to pay a premium.

You forget everything DJi make is mass produced in china/asia it costs peanuts to them. Its probably costing them 10-15 bucks to get one of these done

Thats how it works for a premium product. For example the iPhone probably costs £100-£200 to actually manufacture. This will include the parts and labour. You then have to factor in all the money apple spent on research and development to make a premium phone. Sure, you can go get a cheapy phone for about £20-£100 but think about what you are actually getting, a cheap nasty throwaway phone. A phone that probably cost £5-£10 to manufacture but very little or no money being spent on research and development.

well the other thing is all the regulations and certifications, testing, failsafes, and so on.. i trust the batteries Dji makes over generic flatpack cells.. and yes i have used "quality" flat pack cells like turnigy LIpo-HV 4S cells and have had a case of cell failure and bloated pack.  yet to have that issue with DJi packs even pushing them as hard as i can

be thankful you don't fly an Inspire 2 with two $300 worth of batteries per flight or Matric 600 with 6 $150 batteries... Spark batteries are cheap.

heh.   i was considering getting an inspire 2 pro once...  then i realized the amount of compromises will have to be made are not for me..  maybe if i was back in the game doing pro video work.. but yea.. and you cannot fly with a single pack i heard, have to run them in redundancy mode basically, pair of batteries per flight.  and still only get about 30 minutes..   the size is huge, too big for me when i can just fold a mavic up..

but yea talk about expensive batteries, every flight requires $300 battery set on the inspire 2 drones.. still only pulling ~30 minutes in ideal conditions and way less in the cold thanks to the heater pulling 10% of the power..

All the accessories are really expensive. I even had to take a payday loan once to buy a battery set. And it's great that my friend gave me a great advice on how to take good payday loans in Maryland, it really helped me a lot.

DJI needs to filter out these spam/virus posts. There is danger of virus's besides junk adds.

The cost of a proprietary battery can be a bit hard to swallow in the same way that inkjet cartridges can cost more than the printer itself. At least with printers there are plenty of quality third party manufacturers.  Shortly after DJI released the Phantom 2 range with its proprietary battery some third party alternatives started appearing on the market. Exhaustive testing by some owners demonstrated that these third party batteries were just as good as the originals. DJI’s answer to this was to release a compulsory FW upgrade for the Phantom so that these third party batteries would no longer be recognised by the Phantom 2.

The other major downside to the manufacturer having a monopoly over their batteries is that they have a further grip on determining the artificial lifespan of their product. The Spark maybe discontinued but this fact alone should not render it to the landfill site. My Pentax K1000 was discontinued 30yrs ago but I still use it. However because DJI discontinued the Spark they have also ceased manufacture of the batteries, which are a consumable item, and hence have chosen to stop supporting the owners UNLESS they purchase another current DJI product, which no doubt will have the same artificially reduced lifespan.

Time to start self building again, guys.

Nidge.

Guys, hello everyone. The last purchase "on credit" is the MacBook Pro, I did not have enough to buy 200 bucks. I suddenly realized that being an IT specialist working on a weak laptop at home and a rather weak office computer at work means losing valuable time and nerves. Updating technology as a result of professional growth. Accordingly, I consider this acquisition not only justified but also profitable. As a plus - now I can begin to learn the Swift language and write applications for macOS and iOS. For a long time, I could not decide to take a short-term loan, but then I read his comment is here. I am very glad.

Spark batteries are 3 times more expensive, but they also last much longer, more efficiently, so to speak. Therefore, when I took a payday loan here plscashadvance.com/how-its-work.html to buy this battery, I understood what I would spend the money on. I have never regretted that I took the loan and made this purchase. I am glad so much.

The link does not work. Spark batteries are not available. It will take a lot of luck to find one...
Unfortunately DJI does not consider it important to provide spare batteries for the Spark.
The Spark didn't do well: battery died, flew off due to compass failure and crashed, took off bouncing, then landed and crashed.
The best way to make these go away is for DJI to stop making batteries for it, so people stop flying the Spark.
(except the DIY people...see above)

All of the accessories are really costly. I once had to take out a cash loan to purchase a battery set. And it's fantastic that my colleague gave me excellent advise on how to obtain good cash loans in 1 hour; it has been quite beneficial to me.
