This sounded like a super cool idea, so I did a test using bluestack.  My PC is a Surface Pro 4 I7.  No slouch as far as power.

It WORKED!  I was impressed and amazed, BUT....

The lag was horrendous.  I think it was upwards of 1 and a half seconds.  It's not an ideal way to fly.

There is another option that might be worth chasing, and that's using Oracle Virtual Box, and creating an android virtual instance.  I may give that a try, as bluestack has inspired me.

I also have a Surface Pro 4, I think I'll give it a shot this weekend just for giggles.

I'm going to try some different solutions, as this one had too much lag.

the problem is dji go application does not support x86/x64 so bluestack and remixos are forced to emulate ARM on top of x86/x64 of your PC.  so yes if emulation is successful it will work, but it will suffer from pretty terrible latency since its a very long pipeline going X86 to ARM.   the other isssue is andriod OS typically doesnt like most integrated graphics solutions on PC so alot of video and streaming is software pipeline, further clogging up the CPU.., and may find a way to use descrete graphics, but its not ideal.. and unlikely

It's not advised. Please consider the mobile devices that are considered compatible on the product page.

I tried multiple android images in virtualbox, and in every single one the dji go 4 app would not run.  As DJI-Mark indicates, this isn't a supported operation anyways.

Conclusion:  I struck out using VirtualBox.  I can get android instances running, but I can't get DJI GO 4 to run in any of these virtual android instances.

Please note that we do not design app for laptop now and we still have no plan in doing so. Thanks for your support.

I am really curious about this, since the laptop provides me with a (much) larger screen!

Have you tried MEmu, a new Android emulator ?

No, but I will try!  I really like this in theory, so I'm ambitious.

Bluestack apparently will "ad" you to death unless you subscribe.  I wanted to try tweaking some settings to see if I could increase the performance, and I got prompted with ads to subscribe.

This would not be a good solution for flying (getting ads in mid flight), so I'd not recommend it unless you are willing to subscribe.

Have to admit though, it's cool to replay my flight logs on a big screen.

It would be kind of nice to be able to use my laptop as a "ground control" station for my Spark. Bigger screen, easier for me to see. Plus for the "bigger" drones, easier to use with waypoints, etc.

Interesting thread.  I wonder if you could run DJIGo on a raspberry pi running android???   A quick look around the web says that android on Pi suffers from lack of hardware graphics acceleration, so probably not very well.  Still, it would be nice to be able to build a custom rig for flying spark.... you could use any screen size you want and add lots of extra memory for caching videos.

I'm using a Nuvision Solo 8 model TM800A740M, running Nougat. I it bought at Sams Club last fall. I bought it only for my drone, so I keep the apps that I install limited as much as possible. It works great. Bigger screen and I don't notice any lag, but I also use an OTG cable and signal reflectors.

I tried running the latest version on BlueStacks on my iMac and it crashes before the loading screen. Actually I wanted to run it on my Linux PC because it has a better screen. Many people would especially appreciate something to change settings and spin up individual motors for pre and post-flight checks I'm sure.

I am an iPhone user, I use NOX on a PC to run a modded Android DJI Go app - it switched CE to FCC in the controller.
