Range Test

Well played. I did the same, not a distance test more of a speed test, some awesome winds that I wanted to play with...and yes over water!

I could have gone further but got too worried about the battery level.This little drone is amazing...

congrats on the range run!    looks good!    i just wish the spark could pull that off over more things not just open areas..

never...if you want 2km of range ... the only method is google.
dji complies with the EC rules, thus weakening the signal, there is a reduction of the maximum distance, but in addition to this verifcation a weaker signal.

Great distance, but I cannot imagine taking £500-600 notes out of my back pocket and sending it 2 miles away in the sky on a remote controlled aircraft hoping it always comes back.  I know the odds are that it will come back, but check the forums, the odds are not stacked totally in your favor.

I don't want 2 km distance ....I just want that they advertise to me.....300 m in 5.8 ghz with out image weak in 50 or 100 meters, and 500 meters in 2.4ghz without lag and image weak

Yes, that seems too little. But I'm also reading about people here in NL (also CE) that get 200m without problems. Not sure about 300m though.

So far my spark has not let me down  and most of the  time I fly it back instead of  RTH. My drones are also covered 100% by my insurance State Farm so that gives me a peace of mind.

But the maximum wifi broadcast power is in the regulations. At the legal transmission power in the EU the range will be significantly shortened in areas with a lot of background noise. Just simple physics.

It don't recall ever seeing anything in the DJI material that said the Spark would be guaranteed to be able to travel to the limits of the EU legal flying envelope for a non commercial drone. Could you point me to where they did?

Don't get me wrong - it would be nice if the reliable EU/CE range was bigger than it is but the power regulations are the power regulations. Occusync technology is the only sensible way of improving performance here in the EU. We bought a drone that uses wifi - what did we expect?

It's according to the EU laws that regulates the use of airspace, that's never going to change, at least not to extend the range of flying a drone...we have to learn to live with it.

I'm in Spain and I have reached almost 900m in 5.8GHz in an area with very little or not interference at all in an wide open area...I believe you can too, just find a wide open area with no radio/wifi interference..

Awesome distance, I would be worried about Spark flying away...lol

Impressive distance. I'm too paranoid to let it go that far out of sight.

So is the FAA.  They wrote regulations on how in sight hobbyists have to fly.  Don't post "It was dangerous but I made it!" flights while listing the United States as your home.  List France or some place more laisez faire about flying.  

At first, I thought the OP was the guy who caused the Gatwick airport disruption (trying for max distance).  That drone operator was also going for max distance and flying only by the video feed.

yes use a apphack force FCC in EU for best range...for now record with spark is over 5000mt+(not my record)
