If you are not suppose to use drones to make money, then how do people who make commercials and movies get away with it??

You are allowed to use drones to make money -- if you're on this list:

Those fees are fairly inexpensive when compared to fees those who have current exemptions are paying. All must have airman certificates -- meaning you need to have a license to fly a manned aircraft.

But, the airman certificate mentioned in the proposal talks about a lifetime certificate for UAV pilots.  Does anyone know what the approximate costs will be to the new applicants after the new rules come in?

I do want to apply if the costs are reasonable.  I'm in real estate sales and the possibilities are there to make a few dollars.

Nobody knows what the costs will be since the new rules are still only "proposed" rules. Anything could change at this point. Whatever the outcome, I'm assuming it will be far less than obtaining a manned aircraft airman certificate.
