My guess is from the IFA announcement

"With the newly added Paper Plane flight mode, users now have more ways to enjoy the Spark. This new mode allows users to launch the drone in a forward motion, just like flying a paper plane. The camera will automatically begin recording a Dronie video using user-defined distance with a fixed angle and speed. When filming is complete, the DJI Spark will automatically return to the pilot and the footage can be quickly and easily edited and shared."

That sounds like a cool feature .. let's hope it works and DJI doesn't fail on the delivery

If its a  new FW I'll wait a good week or 2 before i fly my spark again. I wont be a guinea pig for DJi and test their glitches for them.

It does highlight that 2.4GHz is the default so presumably improvements to wireless transmission signal/range and the new dynamic homepoint when using gestures - I think it will be a standard firmware update to link in with version .11 of GO 4.

I am doing a complete comparison of the manuals now.
(v1.0 - v1.4) to see what has changed.

I've just downloaded v1.4 from 27-07 and compare it to the recent one (also 1.4)

• p9. Description how the aircraft reacts to No GPS is altered, more things that can go wrong and things to notice.

• p53. Max flight time wind speed is lowered from 15.5 mph to 12.4 mph.
  

So probably no reason for a decimal version change, only some small decimal change we can't see.

I did understand the DJI note, but don't feel like launching your spark forward might be safe.  Let's see how it works first.  Might be a cool feature.
