Hello there.

I'm sorry to say that the problem came back and so the solution above DID NOT WORK.
I'm sorry.

Just left the drone with a specialist to see what the problem is.
For the Brazilian people out there, the website of the technician is:

Seems like there is at least 3 threads with this same problem. There is mine one too which I mistakenly put in the discussions section, there is another one somewhere where a Malaysian guy has a big video up of a number of people having the same problem. The fix for me in the end was to plug into the DJI Assistant program on my computer and to re set to factory settings. Then to take off using only the controller, not your phone. I'm wondering if the common link is taking off using the phone instead of the controller. Here is the video of mine doing the same thing.

spark hop

Hi,

At the end of the above video you see dust being stirred up by the Sparks propellers. Could it be that the optical system is getting confused about the actual height? I mean, in this forum you can find threads where even simple fog causes problems because the opti system thinks theres ground...
Can you try the same with a clean blanket or start mat or something?

Cheers,
Wolferl

No its not that, that just happened to be one area where I tried it and had the camera on. Other launch sites were clean and free of objects. It's as I said, it seems to be related to taking off using the auto take off of the DJI app on the phone.
Here is the video from the Malaysian guy I was talking about before.

A regular problem on 2different sparks since I updated my firmware 2months ago. Since then spark still randomly does the hover dance, and other times take of is perfect, I've also done the spark dance, down grade and upgrade firmware, new props, different landing positions, using remote&phone, phone only and gesture controll, yet still the take off dance continues randomly, perhaps this is concern we need to keep an eye on before spark meets floor and damage keeps us grounded. Could it be the device Iam using, could it me the battery could it be the firmware.
Not sure and scared to find out DJI repairs not cheap and just not worth the damage to fly.

If i could chose again i would not have bought this spark also the mavic i think. There are simply tooo many issues with the spark

there are so many issues with Mavic 2 pro also..
All DJI products are having their software outsourced...

Thanks for support. I upgraded my drone to Mavic Air and good for me now

Happy for your new purchase.
I just had the same exact problem you had  and it was my propellers .
I got some 3nd party propellers.
I changed them out back to DJI and now everything is back to normal.

I would recommend to open a support ticket, export the blackbox and all flight data and send it to DJI. This is definitely not common behaviour of the Spark and can be solved one way or the other through DJI: http://www.dji.com/support

well it seems common according to all this my spark is even doing this

Bro, send it back and get a new one...but no spark. This is a new dimension to this problem. No way you'll fix that on your own for good.

I do it even though I haven't updated it 1 year ago. Do it with only one battery.
I saw a video of it being caused by a connector, which seems logical because no one's new Spark will fail. After 2 years I had this problem.
A software bug is unlikely, because it happened even if the owner was upgraded or not (like me).
It is caused by the uneven (fluctuating) performance of the motors. No errors are detected in the software, there is no sign of any errors in the log files. Mine landed recently and I pushed the stick up. Propellers crashed, but the log file is completely error free.
Disassemble and disconnect contacts, apply contact spray.

Sad that DJI listens to this as well as other bugs ...
PS: google translator......

Send the link to the video with the spark to DJI
Try to get a mod or admin involved, who can organize that and bring the info and the warranty request together.
That is neither new, nor unknown for DJI.
It us just not to reproduce, under all starting circumstances in the dji repair centers. They dont have that much time for either bird.
Use your warranty.
Or:
In case you still can give it back:
Give it back, buy another one!

I would like to share my repair for this problem. My drone would fly properly with prop guards, but without it, it would bump several times and refuse to take off.
I flushed the motors using Electra Clean Spray, and I cleaned the 4 ESC boards which probably had traces of moisture.
And now I can fly is with and without prop guards.

If you opened and disassembled it, moving the connectors may have solved the problem, as I did:
