Just sold my Phantom 4 - great machine but I found myself not using it as much as I should because of it's size. I travel a lot, and carrying a dedicated backpack was just not for me.

Now that it's gone, trying to decide what I should get next.

I don't use it for anything professional, simply for personal production. That said, the SPARK photo/video quality seems to be pretty darn good for it's size. I know it's not 4K, but for what I use it for it's not bad at all.

The Spark seems like a great idea because of it's size, however I feel that with the added controller it's going to take up almost the same amount of space in a bag as a Mavic? Moreover, the range doesn't seem to be the greatest on the Spark.

Any suggestions?

The mavic would prob be a better investment i feel.
Small size good range and good image quality. Having the option to film at 4k if required in the future gives an added bonus. Not to mention that its very easy to carry around in a small backpack.

But no seriously, I doubt anyone's going to be able to give you any intelligent answers without knowing precisely how you're planning on using your drone.  If all you're planning on doing is filming your pet llama at close range on days with no wind, then the Spark may be perfect for you.  No Goggles support, so all you can do is stare at a tiny phone screen.  That's a deal-breaker for me right there.

I'm not a Mavic owner, but I suggest to buy a Mavic Pro.

Funny, I have still not decided if Spark, MP or P4A is going to be my first DJI.

So far my list looks like this:
Spark
Pro:
- Cheap(er)
- Smaller (I know MP is also small when folded)

Con:
- No 25fps (PAL area....)
- No 3 axis gimbal (digital stabilization is not the same)
- Limited flight time per battery.- Limited range (especially in CE area)

Mavic Pro
Pro:
- More camera settings (Yes, I need them)
- Raw support
- More flight time
- Size folded is good for travel- More range

Con:
- More expensive
- Very tiny sensor
- Limited bitrate

Phantom 4 Advanced / Pro
Pro:
- 1" sensor (less noise, more dynamic range)
- Also more flight time compared to Spark
- Better range than Spark

Con:
- Price (especially with batteries and charger)
- Size
- Image quality still not up to DSLR standard, although better than the first three)

I might be missing key features from real users, but this is my list so far.

PS, Spark or MP are on the short(er) list.

I think Mavic is the way to go as well . . .  Going from a P4 to a Spark is going to be a definite downgrade.

Reviving this thread - for those of you in Canada there is an amazing Black Friday deal at Best Buy for the Spark! $499.99, and combined with the purchase of a controller from Amazon at $150.00,  your looking at the package for $650 which really isn't bad at all!

I still have yet to make my decision, but leaning towards the spark given it's essentially half the cost of the mavic at this price!

Ended up buying the Mavic Pro Fly more bundle today
