[size=14.6666669845581px]Hi!
[size=14.6666669845581px]I'm new to the forum, so thanks for any feedback or help you guys can provide to me.

[size=14.6666669845581px]I got the DJI Datalink, installed it and had half a dozen flights with it working perfectly. The main purpose to use it, is to be able to take the same identical shot every time in real state developments, to create a time lapse video.

[size=14.6666669845581px]While testing at home the waypoints feature with a specific heading during the hover time on a pre-recorded waypoints flight plan, my phantom 2 acted weird and between waypoint 2 and 3 it suddenly stopped, the iPad said connection lost, I looked up and it didnt continue to fly along the waypoints route.

[size=14.6666669845581px]It actually tried to go back for a second and then forward again for another second, and right after this iPad said "GPS Mode" so connection was back. I thought everything would be normal, but less than a second after the Phantom went on a FLIP and then lost control and smashed into the ground at full power...

[size=14.6666669845581px]I'm still trying to figure out WTF happened...

[size=14.6666669845581px]1. It was my understanding that even if connection was lost the UAV would continue with the waypoints plan, and this evidently didn't work.
[size=14.6666669845581px]2. Why would it go on a flip and stall and crash at full power on to the ground?
[size=14.6666669845581px]3. Has anybody had a similar experience?

[size=14.6666669845581px]Thanks for the help and feedback!

Luis,

If the bird lost connection with the GPS satellites it would immediately revert to ATTI mode which would require you to take over complete control of the craft. Based on your description, my best guess would be that you were getting very spotty satellite reception and you were losing satellite count. When you looked at your screen, how many sats were connected? I think but I'm not completely certain that a ground station mission is aborted if the required sat count is lost, again requiring you to take control to land the craft in ATTI mode. With the information you provided, that's my best guess. Others may chime in with a better answer for you.

Thanks For the reply Jerry!

I forgot to mention that bit of info, but I did have 10+ satellites locked in at all times.

Luis,

I must be confused as your original post said:  "the iPad said connection lost". If the iPad lost connection your sat count would have shown 0. At least that's been my experience.

I am thinking he lost a motor or ESC, maybe even FCS. I frequently lose connection with the ground station if it goes behind a tree or is BVR. It's possible something happened to the connection relating to the phantom going down....complete lockup of flight control system. Not sure. I wonder if the Phantom still works, powers on, etc...

If it flipped and crashed, I would guess a motor quit or and ESC error.
