The actual footage (4k etc.) from the camera is stored on the SD card in the Mavic.
The lower resolution video (720/1080) transmitted to your device is what you see on your phone/tablet and is saved on your device (Phone or tablet) to conserve bandwidth issues.
You have to download the actual Mavic footage into you PC with either a cable, or by removing the SD card and copying them to a destination on your PC for process/post work.

Yes, all the videos and pics will be stored on the SD. If you don't want the transmission video to store on your mobile device, you can shut down cache video while recording on the General Settings, but you cannot directly download it to your phone from the drone if the resolution is higher than 1080P. If you have that "store on SD card" button on your device, you can choose it and the video will reserve on your external SD card. This icon only shows when the Android device has a system beyond 5.0 with an external SD  card and the app version above 4.1.4. Note that the pictures will save on the editor, it can not be cancelled and the path can not be changed.

I was saving to phone's SD card for a while, using a range of SD cards. Worst experience. Make sure that you've used a good quality SD card with 128GB or less space, else your files may not save properly. A better solution is use your phone's memory and move manually to SD card on phone.
Given your resolution is not as great as saving on your SD card on your drone, having a spare battery and SD card to swap over in your drone at the same time is better solution, along with saving to your phone as a backup.
