What is the purpose of rendering and re-importing the clip?  What would happen if you applied the warp stabilizer without that intermediate step?

If you apply the warp stabilizer before you have sped up the footage. First - it will take hell of a lot longer to do the warp stuff.. Second - it wouldn't be that smooth after you would have sped it up with warp applied at the beginning.

Basically if the video is shorter, the warp will do it's thing real; quick + the stabilization will be way smoother and much better looking... Something like that

Gotcha; thanks.  I guess I had assumed that Premiere Pro would be smart enough to see that the footage had been sped up already, and apply the stabilization to that.  But on further thought, I see that you'd run into the chicken or the egg problem.

Makes sense now.

Hah... You just made me understand a trick...

if you speed the footage up and nest it.. you can now warp stabilize the nested footage.

actually very easy.

will have to redo this tutorial

Thank you that you made me think!

Thanks! Tomorrow I will upload a second video, because there is an easier way to do it. You don't have to render the clip out. you can just nest the sped up footage and then warp stabilize it.

Because of Irate Retro comment here on this section I started thinking about it and yeah, there is one step that can be taken out. the clip rendering. So that makes it even easier

I noticed there was still quite a bit of motion in the finished clip from the drone drifting in the wind.  If I was going to do one of these, I think I'd shoot in one resolution setting higher than I needed the finished product to be, and from a higher altitude.  Then you can apply stabilization (not warp though) since the outer portion of the video won't be seen.  Crop to the original intended resolution and done, perfectly still image.  In theory.
