Can anyone suggest a tablet for the phantom4 that would be a good compromise between cost and operation quality?  Thanks in advance for any help.  

That is such a personal choice, just make sure it is listed as compatible with the P4.

I use the iPad Pro 9.7, and have never had a single crash (of the iPad Pro) using any of the DJI Go builds over the past year or so. It fits nicely into the P3, P4 control units with a couple of clicks to lock tightly in the standard holders. And with the introduction of the latest models a nice refurbished iPad 9.7 pro might come in at a good price.

Huawei MediaTab2 - 10".  Just fits in the cradle.

1080p resolution.  You can add up to 128Gb Micro SD card (iirc).

Cost me a fraction of the price of a Samsung or Apple equivilant.  £180.

Does me right and well.

An iPad Air2 Cellular is quite an awesome and adequate device.
I have been using mine for a couple of years as my dedicated device, and it's been flawless, completely trouble free.

Use the DJI list of tested and trusty units, as a guide, before choosing. ;-)

I bought an Ipad.  Its not in the list of dervices, but works great with my P4A.  Only drawback is its big, just barely fits in the holder, and its kind of heavy.  Other than that, no problems whatsoever.

Get a proper neck harness like the Inspire harness. Takes much of the weight away from the neck...

Sometimes we would recommend using the mobile device on our test list because engineers had tested to run DJI GO/DJI GO 4 on that mobile devices and they performed fine.

Looks alright actually.  Can you fit extra memory cards to it?

I use my iPad Mini 4 with my P4P and iPhone 7+ with my Mavic and Spark. They all work perfectly for me.

iPad Mini 4 w/ Cellular Data (Black stripe (antenna) on the back. It sure is costly though.

Thanks all for the valued recommendations.  I'm mulling them over and using my Samsung S7 in the meantime.  Small screen for these old eyes so I'm looking for a larger screen like the Ipad or Nexus 9, Huwei, etc.  Funding is a problem, but ebay will take care of that soon enough, fate willing.

Personally, I found the Mini nice, but having a slightly bigger screen is more optimal for my aged eyes.
That's why I feel the iPad Air2 Cellular is the perfect device, for me.  It fits the RC holder perfectly, and not too heavy, for its larger sized screen...

Plenty of processing power to feed the power hungry Go app.
With a built-in heatsink, it keeps the device cool to the touch.

Is anyone using with google pixel c with the DJI Go4 app? Wondering if the app works well. I'd like to use a clean version of android if at all possible.

Sure can! I have 128 micro sd card in mine. Love this tablet.

Not sure about the weight but the processing power is better due to the newer chip-set inside. Never had any issues at all. Mine is in an armoured case to protect it and it still fits in the P4A tablet holder and the Magic 3rd party holder that fits in the spot usually used for the phone.

I use an iPad mini 4 with cellular. I find it to be the perfect size and have never had an issue with its performance and reliability.

About the same really as not noticed a massive difference at all. I have mine in an armoured case so this will make it bulkier. It still fits in the controller mount with space to spare. The main difference is in the chip. The performance is much better. No issues so far.

Certainly hope so bud.  I had a look in a popular UK electrical retail chain store - the sort that sells Indian cuisine - if you get my drift.

Quite impressed with resolution - so I asked her nicely - and she's said  ok.

Think she got the better deal though - she's got the Mulberry bag she's been after

This is what I use. The battery lasts forever and wanted the ability to air drop files quickly to my phones. On my P4P controller, it is a snug fit but it is very secure.
