If you are flying above the RTH altitude when you press RTH, does the drone decent to that altitude before returning?

No, it will not.

It will stay at same height until it reaches above homepoint and descend.

If it's ABOVE you're preset RTH altitude it will return to home at the current altitude and not start descending until the aircraft is over the home point.

That's what I thought, but had to ask.  My bird just arrived today, but I'm out of town. bummer

Thanks for the answers above, you can also find it in the manual. I advise reading the manual before practical flying.

Just be sure to actually have your RTH height set above all surrounding obstacles.

Perhaps launch from an airy open area too. Away from any obvious interference. ;-)
