Has anyone had any issues with the battery going bad or not holding a charge as long?
What are we to do if and when this happens, can the battery be replaced or are we forced to buy a new transmitter?

Are you talking about the battery in the transmitter not holding a charge?  The transmitter battery will last about 10 hours on the transmitter with the lypo.
