Apologies for the delayed response. If you go out to the Rockwood Depot, where folks take the train for the Soaring Tree Top Adventures, there is a trail that goes down to the river. If you ever decide to go out there, PM me and I'll send you a map of where the train begins. It's not clearly marked as the trail really is for river-goers to exit the river, before it gets treacherous.

I've been there ,we usually walked the tracks some then drop off down to river.

I moved to durango in 1997 and until 2010, i still have two house in Durango, both up on the mesa near Elmores corner. How long have you lived there ?

Just visiting, but fantastic area.
