[size=14.6667px]Can't figure out what caused this change on my Inspire X3. the normally red shutter button is now white. The shutter button on the controller switches switches Ipad to the PLAY screen.???

Not sure if I am understanding you correctly. But the white shutter button has been this way for some time now. This means you are taking a photo and you can see which mode your camera is in at a glance. When you switch to video mode, the shutter button turns to RED  and when you are filming it will turn to a red square until pressed again.
Switch between Video and photo mode
Video = RED
Photo = WHITE

Rich is right, when you switch to video  mode, the shutter icon will become red.
