Recently in several, or a couple for sure, posts, I am seeing four anti drop pins installed on the gimbal assembly.

Is this now the new norm, or are these couple of drones an unusual assembly?

Just want to stay current, on what's right or wrong procedure.

Yes, several here have gone to loose fitting zip ties, for their safety.

But four pins is two too many.  As far as was taught us, in the past.

I should post a pic of my growing dental floss collection. Hahaha
Thanks to composer Frank Zappa, it means a lot to me...

anyways, the four vibration dampers should reduce or remove any rattle... I have never heard any noise from my gimbal...

That's very interesting. I wonder why they added the extra two pins?

Ah, as they aren't really needed. But perhaps there is a logical reason, yet to be explained in any detail.

The new aircraft come with 4 pins, two to use and two spares. But few people bother to read the manual, but even if they do, it still is not clear, as it saysa two pins will have been fitted as the aircraft is supplied, but if new or additional pins are required there are two spares. So it does not actually say that only two pins should be fitted.

Yes, I also received a few extra anti drop pins in my flight kit.

But I never felt the urge to apply them to my Phantom 3 Pro.

So it surprises me, that some Phantom 4 are being shipped with four installed...

This is what they are talking about.
The P3 only needs two but people are always thinking that must be wrong and installing the spares unnecessarily.

Thanks Labroides for posting this diagram, of the pin placement.

All larger hobby class drones with a camera, should have a gimbal, that is mounted, thusly.

I just looked at my p4p and the gimbal doesn't have any, at least visible. Different design, much different than my p2v+.

My P4 std doesn't have anything even remotely close to that.  At least nothing that I can get to without totally dismantling the aircraft.  RHP, sometimes I wonder about you...

OK Arch, you are normally not that dense...
From the get go no one said this had a thing to do with the P4, we have an advanced stabilization setup housed inside the bottom plate.  The pin setup is for the older Phantoms...you knew that riiiight

I'm afraid you're wrong there, sir.  Take another look at RHP's post that I was referring to.  But just in case you're boozing it up and feeling lazy, I'll save you some work:

It doesn't get much plainer than that.  RHP was (even if unintentionally) saying that it did have something to do with the P4P.

Based on many of his posts (especially the ones involving obscure photographs), I'm guessing that his hobbies include substances a bit stronger than that.

Agree with 11#. Two anti-drop pins are enough for connecting. The another two are spares.

You got some nerve, with the fat cigar in your avatar Archie (full of bunk) face,  talking about substance use. Ah, or perhaps abuse in some cases.  What the Fnck? Let's keep your personality faults and frailties to a comfortable minimum. Or we shall have to report you for going off the forum thread topic. Hahaha

Yes, no I have never held a Phantom 4 to have realized the difference in gimbal assembly.

Some trivial pursuit: Brett Michaels made out with all the girls on the tour bus.

Ghengis Khan had so many women, your neighbour three doors down might be your distant cousin. Ha

Just saying. He had a tribe of his own kin....

Or perhaps you are just partial to incredibly pretty blondes, carrying their own hunting gear?
