The aerial 360 really gives us a brand new view to see the world broader. Great job, friend, thanks for sharing.

Thank you Thor! I agree - aerial 360s give a more immersive view of the surroundings - puts everything into context!

Very nice, Graeme. I sent this to my realtor wife and I'm sure she'll have me creating some of these for the larger land listings.

Thank you It's certainly a view that establishes the setting!
There's a local hospital that closed in recent years being redeveloped (click image below to see interactive 360 Google Maps view) and I asked the developer permission to photograph it before work starts. Would be interesting to compare it after development is complete...

I take it this was stitched together?  I know little of how this stuff works.
It is very cool, I like it!

It was indeed stitched from Phantom 4 images but a little more involved... I also shoot a panorama of the sky form the ground with a DSLR camera and merge that in so that the sky is complete  (since the Phantom camera cant look upwards).

Glad you liked it

Cheers! I'm using a the original Phantom 4 (12Mpix). Would like to have tried the same with a Phantom 4 Pro with its 20MPix camera. As the Mavic and Spark cannot capture the sky above them, their panoramas will miss out some of the sky detail.

I don't have a tutorial myself but I can point you to a similar method on Youtube. I'm not using Dronepan either as I aim and manually expose each shot. The sky half of the panorama I create on the ground with a DSLR and a fisheye lens - 6 photos are taken to make the sky half of the panorama. It's a lot of work but I've done so many of them I don't need to think too hard

You're right - my mistake, the sensor is 20 Mpix (not the 24Mpx I mentioned originally). I was thinking about (or perhaps drooling over!) the Zenmuse X7.

I was surprised how well the 12Mpix images came out but they did need careful sharpening. Still, I'd love to see what I could do with the P4A/P4P! The extra dynamic range would certainly be a bonus too

Yeah, what counts is the sensor and the lens, the resolution is better only for great banners and images. The 20 MP I think that is a 1'' sensor.

It is indeed a 1" format sensor in the P4A/P4P. Will be interesting to see what DJI releases next in the Phantom range.

Indeed - with the P4 Pro being out a while, I'd be scared to buy one in the near future only to see it  superseded in a month's time (that's what happened why I bought my P3!)

100% true. I have been playing around with a Samsung gear 360, but that was not delivering the quality I wanted.

I’ve been keeping an eye on various all in one 360 cameras but the resolution is much less than I’m accustomed to. The gear 360 (2017) has a final still output resolution of 15Mpix whereas stitching 12Mpix Phantom 4 images gives me around 136Mpix images - quite a difference!

Exactly.
And from the sky you have far less parallax issues than I'm having when shooting from the ground.
That worked nice with the Gear 360, but without a good pano head (nodal point etc) I can't stitch my ground 360 shots very well.
Also the moving objects issue is far more common when you shoot from the ground, since objects are bigger....
Note to myself : get a P4A asap

I haven't had many parallax issues at around 100m. Wind blowing trees or crops sometimes confuses the stitcher. The stitching nightmares usually arrive when I'm doing coastal shots and all there is to stitch on in the sea parts of the image are fragments of land or slow moving cloud. There's one aspect of the P4A/P4P that concerns me - the slightly narrower field of view compared to the original P4 might prevent me from keeping key features in frame for overlapping shots near the sea... The bonus is more detail for everwhere else

As for ground based 360s, a really good 360 tripod head makes a world of difference!

Yeah, I should buy one (360 head), but that is way to expensive for my hobby usage.
And still gives the issue of moving subjects that are close to you.

Yes, 360 heads are a bit expensive. Like tripods, one usually buys a few cheap ones first and, due to their shortcomings,  end up buying a decent one in the end!

As you say, moving subjects can be a problem. I've even had issues with shadows moving between shots as the sun moves!

True. If I plan on using it enough I definitely buy decent gear.
But in this case I have limited plans (lot's of things to do and only 24 hours in a day)
