I can only get about 600ft distance before I get "weak image transmission" then i get "disconnect" but I still have control of the drone. screen is also blank. I have tried in different areas but I am in a college town so that may play a part in it. what's your thought?

You're amongst a lot of company.  What phantom is it?  I'm guessing P3S.

Try a less congested area, with less trees and structures.  It may help some.

I had almost that range with the stock P3S. Max about 900 only.
I went for a range extender kit that was fantastic. I went to more than 3200 ft without any week signal !!!

I also increased my downlink power with Magic Power Mod and I made easy FPV flights with googles quite far with no problems.

I had doubts before trying the mod to antenna, but in regard to the drone's price, the ratio value/€ is fantastic...

Also : I use Litchi app and I think that it DID increase the range and transmission quality.

Does a P3S in the US actually produce the maximum FCC regulated 27dbm wifi output? I've wondered if the P3S will adjust it's power output according to same channel and  of co-channel interference.

More : both flights the same day at the same place and same setup.

After Magic Mod with 27dbm I got 1100 ft but turned around because I had to run somewhere but I didn't get any warnings at all. Thanks a lot

Magic power is only for CE areas. US already has max wifi setting. 27db something or other.

Ant Mod gave me 500 to 600 feet. Before the problem started I Was getting 2000 with just a reflector on the ant. I Next may try a down grade on firmware.

Please reply in this thread your results after downgrading the firmware. If possible state the RC and aircraft FW versions you use.

The important thing here is 'college town'. Any decent college has enormously complex WiFi systems, not to mention all the students with their phones, tablets and laptops. All of these are competinbg withg the P3 Standard for radio space, so it is inevitable that the Phantom will lose out.

No Joy on down grading the firmware, This was on my P3S. I purchased a new (used) controller.  I am back to 2000ft  No issues.   It seems the Controllers electronics, was damaged at some point.

Rc signal lost in short distance

What FW and Go app version is on your system? And what altitude and distance was your bird during signal loss?
