...more like probably I suppose.

So, here's the scenario.  I have my Phantom 2 ready to fly, I've done the Phantom dance to calibrate, we're ready to launch.

The hiccup comes with my location.  I am 30 meters from a cliff that is 600 feet deep and a couple hundred feet wide.  I want to fly to the other side.  Now, given the 400 foot flight restriction that is set..the question is:  Will my Phantom instantly drop down to the 400ft ceiling level once over the valley below?

I know (or think I know) that you can turn this height restriction feature off but I'm just curious is I would lose my phantom to the valley below if those restrictions where set.

Thanks in advance...hope I explained this right.

I concur, altitude is set from the takeoff point.  There is no capability for "terrain following"

(but maybe if you set it to dynamic home point and jumped off the cliff... )

Now here is a question. Max height is set to 400 feet and you land at the bottom of the 600 foot deep cliff. Some one powers the Phantom off and back on. Can you return back to the top of the cliff?

No you will not lose your phantom due to the height restriction.  The phantom goes off of AGL (Above Ground Level) readings.  So whether you are in your back yard at a mean sea level (MSL) of 4 meters or on top of a mountain MSL of 4,000 meters the phantom will still read at 0 meters from take off point.  From there you can fly up upwards in altitude of 121 meters.  I already been through this phase and went ahead and changed the altitude setting.

He actjually had a stealth bomber with him, but no one can prove it because it was stealthy and couldn't be seen.

That's what is fun about it, we get to rewrite history sometimes, and no one can prove it wrong.
