To confirm - 2.4ghz wifi option has now disappeared. So if you are in the EU especially and using 2.4 made a significant difference to your usability where you live this might be a firmware upgrade to avoid.

Also with assistant this time it did not seem need to be done for every battery - I put a new battery in and it still showed up as having the latest firmware. I did it for every battery just in case anyway.

Are you sure option for 2.4 is missing, also not a battery firmware update.

I got the firmware update for Spark and it installed well. But I did not get an update for the batteries. Should there be one today?

see further posts about 2.4/5.6. No idea about battery - does not seem to be one. But when the last two firmwares were launched (.600) I can't recall it mentioning the batteries firmware specifically though it did happen at the same time.

Thanks Watchberger, should have read on, No battery firmware they are very few and far between, we might get one if they ever bring out higher capacity battery, just 4 extra minutes would suffice.

Thank you for the information, that's interesting then and it will probably again take two weeks or so before it becomes available for all of us in Playstore...
What did the release notes say for your 4.1.14 concerning changes in the App?

4.1.14 for Android has just appeared in apkmirror too.

I'm psyched about the spherical pano but my DJI GO4 app is stuck at V 4.1.12 and the IOS app store says that I am up to date. Guess I have to wait for it to catch up before I can give the new feature a try!

I'm interested if IOS with OTG still works without Problems? There's a rumor that max. high is limited to 50 meters while using OTG.

The 2,4 Ghz issue has been answered in 38#.

I updated my Spark via DJI Go 4.  When I changed batteries, I got an "inconsistent firmware" message and had to run the battery update.  It did this for each of my 3 additional batteries.

EDIT:  The reason I had to update my batteries was because I was one of the lucky few that had installed the 0700 firmware.  This firmware had an incorrect version of the battery firmware and was part of the reason they rescinded that version after a couple of hours.  Because of this, when I did the 0701 update, it had to put the correct battery firmware version in place.  So if you are coming directly from the 0600 firmware, you will likely NOT have to update your batteries like I did.

In CE region 2.4g is 300m and 5.8g is500m.
With fw0701 set to auto will RC change from 5.8 to 2.4 once at or beyond 300m ?

Almost certainly not. They wouldn't risk dropping the WiFi connection, then reestablishing it - and possibly failing - on another band in flight.

EDIT:
Apparently it does, after all: https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=118078&fromuid=1140654

Ah ok thanks.
Seems what we in CE regions really needed was to be able to select 2.4g with auto selection within the allocated 2.4 frequencies

Yes, I find it perplexing that after all the feedback here clearly indicating that we needed to lock our Sparks to 2.4 GHz but still have it choose the best channel on this band automatically, they went ahead and implemented it kinda-sorta-not-quite-right.

Hi, i had problem with update - succesfully went only with dji asistant 2 - without  asistant updateing stopped at 0% - i played 2hours to try it without assistant.

After update I confirm that choosing  wifi band is related with channels. If u choose lower one u run in 2,4 if u choose above 1xx channel u run in 5,8 band. What is important for us - 2,4 stays after dron turnoff/on in custom manual settings

One issue is app version  - for android in Poland current one in play store is 4.1.10 atm so cant test spherical pano (still got 3 panos icons - imo should be four?) Probably firmware is prepared for new options but now we will wait few weeks for apps?

I just updated my Spark with ease. However, I do not seem to be able to select 2.4ghz now, only 5.8 now showing on my iPhone 6S. This is frustrating as 2.4 had a good range. Maybe I have missed something.

Set the slider to manual and select a lower channel this will switch to 2.4

Also with assistant this time it did not seem need to be done for every battery - I put a new battery in and it still showed up as having the latest firmware. I did it for every battery just in case anyway.

If you set the slider in the WiFi section to manual then select a lower Chanel that switches to 2.4 G

I thought the same thing, but If you choose the manual mode and then scroll left right on the channel numbers you'll see the 2.4ghz numbers there.  1-11

I just read in another forum, that by choosing the channel you indirectly also choose the Wi-Fi Band: higher channels are located in 5,8 GHz, the lower ones are located in 2,4 GHz.

Can a more tech savy person confirm that this is correct?

Correct in manual mode select a lower channel in the 2.4 g band

The latest firmware downloaded and uploaded to my Spark without any issues. I pressed the battery button for approx 6 seconds (2 bleeps) for WiFi tablet connectivity and the downloaded firmware update just followed from the tablet to the drone. My several batteries didn't appear to require the update file. What would improve this drone is to abolish the silly EU rulings and enable all Spark drones wherever they are to have FCC outputs and to stop this discrimination.

Firmware update does not work with OTG connection, only via WiFi or best with DJI Assistant.

Since my Spark is less than a month old, this is my first firmware update.

I know there is a lot of excitement, and I was too.  However, in seeing whats in this update, for me this update really doesn't have anything that I think I would be that interested in.

None of these things fix problems that I had.

I do hope that everything is rock solid stable, and improved security would always seem to be a good idea.

So I anxiously await the next update already!  :-)

As I mentioned, I'm new to this.  One thing I've heard folks say is you'll need to update each battery, but that must only be if you update the DJI Go 4 app.
I successfully applied my firmware, and the shut everything down and restarted everything to make sure all was good.  It was, so I shut everything down again, and put in my second battery and started everything up again.  It said I was good to go, which I thought was weird.  So I tried my 3rd battery using the same shutdown/startup process, again, no update needed.  So is that right, the batteries are updated when you get a new App version, and not a new firmware version?

My Android app is stuck on the .10 release for now.

Cheers...

Todd in Chicago

I properly enjoyed how each motor played the DJI bootup tune once the ESC had been updated.

At first I thought it was a new initialisation sound, as a single motor sounds much better than all four at the same time.
