Hello Hello,

I've purchased several TB55 batteries. 6 of them ...
2 of them went dead after the first flight (it seems DJI is going to replace them without any problem) - first flight was something like fully charge them on the table and then fly the M200 at about 50 cm from the ground when all of the sudden it said battery critical and tottaly shut down and dropped on the ground. When I went back to the office both batteries will not charge.

With the other 4 I applied a different tactic. I tryed to do a complete discharge in the office and then fully charge them before I go out in the field. Being in a hurry I dropped two batteries in the M200, started the engined and let the propellers do the work on the table, from time to time glancing at the screen to see the battery status. One thing got my attention *all cells were yellow, about 3.59V each cell, BUT battery one had remaining power about 10% - 12% and battery two had 77% remaining power !!! WTF ?
I stopped everything ... and start opening another set of batteries, the other set, the same problem!

Now I paired the batteires with low remaing power together and the ones with high remaining power in another pair ...

Something is wrong in reading the battery status ? I don't know ...

The problem is that both report the about the same voltage on individual cells but the over all power remaining / bank is tottaly wrong!

Is there any way to "condition" batteries ? Do a discharge, fully load them ? Special procedures ? Etc. ?
Is there something like a service manual for this batteries because for example the LED on the two dead batteries don't blink to any corresponding code in the M200 manual ...

Is there a better charger for the TB50 / TB55 batteries than the DJI Quad Charger ?

Hello ibadea

I had the same problem with the TB47 battery used in Inspire 1. I was flying with about 50% battery when a battery error appeared and it dropped down 30%. The drone started the RTH automatically and canceled it so that it could return to the takeoff point, since when the error happened it was almost 1km away. After that I stopped using this battery and I'm using the TB48 model.

In the company where i work we have a matrice 200 and an inspire 2 with 8 pairs of TB55 batteries and we never had problems with them. We always use the original DJI charger.

When did you buy the batteries? I would recommend you contact our support and send it back for check: http://www.dji.com/support.

Already sent back for checks and exchange ...
BUT
Really ... it should be something that you could do to change things. For example the quad smart charger should be able to discharge batteries and then charge them.

I can give you a simple example. I am lucky I purchased a lot of batteries and I discovered that they are not equally charged and don't report correctly the remaining power but just think (or put yourself) in the situation of a guy purchasing just two TB55 batteries and discovering that one has 77% remaining power and the other one just 15%, but when you plug them into the M200 and check their levels all look the same and report about the same voltage ...

So ... stupid question, why if all report the same voltage, there is such a difference in the "remaining power" percentage ?

It is abnormal that your batteries have different power but the app reported them at the same voltage. If you encounter any question in the case, please inform us.

Hi, interested in the outcome?
Was it faulty batteries? Software/Firmware ?
Smart testing at 50cm

Outcome ? Batteries replaced on spot, no question asked. Failure reason ? I actually don't know and I was not told what happened.

Now all the batteries I have are paired, are about the same level but to reach this, I actually tested 3 sets, opened all on the table powered the M210 and tried to see pairs that were close to each other in terms of power, paired and then discharge on the table (M210 powered on the table without propellers), drained and the fully recharged. Now everything works well.

Problem with the procedure above ? Waisting time. I would assume that a smart charger should be able to balance the batteries and charge them evenly.

....

Now I see that they introduced battery station, nice, very very nice actually but only for TB50 not BT55, waiting for TB55 and will purchase one.

We had the same issue with a set of 3 brand new TB55s. After charging one pair of batteries overnight the battery level is significantly different between the two batteries (100% and 78%). After a flight with a different pair of batteries both starting at 100%, at the end of the flight the level was 25% and 75%.

Looks like some sort of manufacturing defect. What's concerning is it's unknown if this issues might develop after some cycles. Definitely don't want to be stuck with faulty batteries on site during a project and have to prove to DJI that it's not wear and tear but their manufacturing problem.

If M200 is being touted as an industrial enterprise platform we should not be seeing these issues. So far not very impressed with quality on M200, same issues as with other DJI platforms.

Alex, have you flown with TB55's until low power warning?
If you havn't take ibadea's test check and run to low battery hovering at 50cm above something soft

And also a good idea will be not to have a Z30 camera attached ... as I had )

Your story really hit home. Two days ago my TB55 batteries failed with a M210 in the air, resulting in the total loss of aircraft and cameras. Big, big loss, still to see how DJI will respond.

wow ... that's absolutely terrible ! sorry for your loss mate ! I don't know where you are but if you're in europe, my advice to you will be to take the sd card out, archive the flight logs and submit a RMA request either via your dealer or directly on DJI website ...

Hi there,

Also interested in the resolution. Any updates from DJI? Did the V01.01.0500 release on Dec 29th fix the issue?

#Quick Reply HereI have a matrice 210 with z30 camera. I just bought a pair of tb55 batteries, charged them went out for testing. MY drone FELL 150ft OUT FROM THE SKY...wtf dji????? I spent u$ 2000 dólares to destroy my drone??? The warning was “status battery error” and then the motors stopped. Is there a warranty for this guys?! Thanks

Hey Fmerisio,

If you don't mind my asking, what version of the firmware were you flying? Was this after the battery update?

During a flight earlier in March, I get "statut battery error' warning on my CS using GO4 app.
I checked the % , it was around 60%.
Nothing else happened, UAV continued to fly. All my batteries was well upgraded.

End of February i did a few test flights.
With 2 brand new, fully charged TB55 (updated to most current firmware) i got the dreaded 'Critically Low Voltage Warning: Aircraft will be forced to land.' warning after 7 min in flight - but nothing happend.

During the incident i hovered at approx. 20m height and 50m distance ...
I examined the log afterwards and both batteries had 81% / 80% at the event.

That message then never appeared again.

The idea of my M210 falling out of the air because of a random battery issue is insane.

From my communications with DJI,

The issue with the M210 falling from the sky was an issue with the TB55 batteries. If you update the battery firmware to version v01.01.0500 or higher, that should resolve the issue. Make sure to update all batteries. As stated in the firmware release page, make sure to let the batteries sit powered off for 90 minutes after the update process.

If anyone has seen this issue with the v01.01.0500 firmware or a more recent version, please let me know and I will happily escalate to DJI. I have not seen the problem since the update.

somewhat related... I had a TB55 failing 2 weeks ago. new software. luckily was detected at take-off. the m210 didnt want to launch, gave go4 app error for battery level. I had it fully charged the night before. was ok at night. now it doesnt wanna charge at all. faulty electronics, i suspect.
waiting on dji to replace under warranty. less than 10 power cycles on the TB55. now i have 11 TB55s left till they ship me a new one...
my lessons learned - the night before a flight, always ensure all software/firmware/maps, etc. are up to date, batteries at 100% and LEDs blinking fully when checked, etc. should minimize down time and risk.
