l'm not sure where you are in Canada but l thought l'd throw this out there:
lf you live within driving distance of the US border, some companies offer postal storage facilities for free, giving you a US address for those things that can't be shipped here, or that cost a fortune. lf you go over for gas anyway...
Mine costs $5 per item at pick up. Way less than shipping, especially when it's offered as free shipping within the US.

there are already other threads here with photos and video material from ND Gel filters and someone even laser cut them to the correct size

so far IMHO the polar pro seem to be the best deal.

My solution is a cheaper solution - and is very light weight. Does not unbalance the camera that may put stress on the gimbal motors.

You're right as they don't unbalance the camera, and your filters are a real bargain at US$ 15 the set.

I couldn't get mine lose either. Our tendancy is to get a tight grip on the cover while twisting and it doesn't budge. Place your fingertips around front edge and apply an even counter clockwise twist and it comes right loose. The cover is thin and the tighter you grip it the more it will resist. I told my friend who has a P3P that the cover comes off and after he said he couldn't get it off, i reached over and twisted it off easily. Be sure to have a firm grip on the camera body when you do this and be carefull when threading back on as these have fine threads and can be easily cross threaded.

I am working on another solution with a 3D printed cap to hold ND gels on the existing camera. You don't need to modify the Phantom camera at all. Simply choose the filter/s you need and use the 3D printed ring to hold it on. I have some samples availble now. They come with Rosco ND filters already cut (3-stop, 2-stop, 1-stop). I ships via USPS first class mail.

I am looking for a few beta testers if any ones is interested send me a PM. I have 10 prototype sets IN-STOCK.

The 3D printed ring with one filter weighs only 0.7 grams. I haven't noticed any problems with the extra weight.

I cut the filters with my vinyl cutter. The diameter is 31mm. This diameter is designed for use with the ring. If you want to cut your own to fit inside the stock glass filter then they will have to be smaller, probably around 28mm. I didn't want to keep unscrewing that filter so that's why I created this version.



If you want just the filters cut for this 3D printed design feel free to contact me. If you want them cut to use with included glass filter by unscrewing them then get them from www.phantomfilters.com

The www.PhantomFilters.com ND-filters are ultra light weight so they don't interfere with the gimbal operation. They work pretty much the same - cutting down the amount of light to the sensor which makes it possible to lower the shutter speed.

Lower shutter speed means a smoother looking video with natural motion blur - and it can help with jello-problems.

They are made of a polyethylene or 'gel' material. So they are thin, flexible and light.

I think your project and my project could well join: I realized a specific sunshade cardboard. I did a lot of testing to get to the ideal size, and adapted to the angle of view of the camera.

Maybe you could use my plan to add lens hood to your filter holder?

I packed your's up yesterday and they will ship in the mail today.

I shipped two rings with yours. There is the gray one shown in the photos. Also a white ring too which is a softer and more durable plastic. Both are 3D printed with the same machine.

For 3D printing geeks the gray one is a standard PLA plastic. The white is PolyMAX from Polymaker.

What the hell, l ordered these too. l already bought the polar pro ones but haven't even fitted one yet. l like the insert idea better.
