Hello,

I was wondering is anyone tryed to get higher than 500m ? I mean in the box of max height when you put over than 500m is giving you the warning and ect. but when you confirm that the responsibility is yours for max height is writing again the previous number for ex. if I had before 120m and put a number 800m it will be again 120m ??
Thanks
Markos

Your only allowed 500 meters max when you override and except resposability  .. Entering More than 500m will reset to default of 120m.

Dave is right, even 500 Meters is quite high. I wouldn't be comfortable there. Remember that is 500 Meters above ground in relation to where you are standing.

500+ meter you are entering controlled airspace and liable for lot more than merely breaking local laws...

guys .. I ask this question for a specific reason. I know everything about airspace and safety you all have right about it. BUT.
When I entering in hight altitude flights, I always have permission of local authorities and air space control.
some specific photoshoot need some altidude to be complet.
this one for example I had to climb up to 800m

Wow you took a UAV up to 2600 ft? It looks remote but I would be uneasy at that altitude.

The simple solution would be to disconnect the barometer so the I1 would never know how high it is.

You will if you go out and "TEST" it first, in a safe environment  -
Either works or it doesn't, I don't see why not. If it can take off without the barometer data, then there should be zero issues flying as high as you want

Also, as w1der pointed out on another thread, If you hit the reset button, the max height will default to zero, (how high will it fly set to that???? try it out -

If you know what are you talking about and have the skills, please let me know how to do it.
I mean the barometr is a sensor and most likely is to be inside the controller unit.
If you speak just theoriticaly.... than ok everything is possible !

Try putting your Tablet in Airplane Mode and shut down the Wi-Fi, you need neither and they will desense the DJI Controller.

Well sometimes you might need to fly up a somewhat steep slope filming a waterfall say... and in this case I have Set the alt limit over 120m still remaining within the limit above the ground The bird was over way back in the crags of a mountain area where No pilot of any kind of manned aircraft would be or get close as I was to that waterfall. 120m is good enough for me 99% of the time.

What a fantastic image.

Pleased to read you also got proper permission to increase your altitude.  I guess at that height you need to be informing the nearest ATC and obtaining permission as you did. Hats off and respect to you.

It is also a testament to the limits of the Inspire and the camera.

I see 3 solutions to the problem:
- contact DJI for a "special" firmware that has the restriction removed; they might be telling you that you loose any warranty
- find a good "hacker" with a very expensive USB monitoring tool that might me able to patch the communication between the mobile device and RC in such a way that setting 500 m in the DJI Pilot app will actually result in setting 800 m or 1000 m in the RC; might be just a few days work for an experienced person, but their services aren't cheap either
- wait for an SDK to be available for the Inspire 1; depending on the SDK restrictions, different ways may be available to modify the altitude validation

Bogdan

Wow!

That's a beautiful shot.
Thanks for sharing it.

If you could get around the system limitation I'm sure the I1 would get you to that sort of altitude -it climbs very quickly and strongly but I think you would be pushing a TB48 to get to height and position, take the shot and get home again!

I'd love to try it myself!

Wow!

That's a beautiful shot.

I1 can easily reach 1000 m with a full battery (TB47 or TB48)... so, as long as you have permission from authorities and good and stable weather, I do not see any reason why such restriction shouldn't be removed on pilots responsibility.
