Hi all,

In this video [ www.vimeo.com/241847939 ] you can see the automatically wifi channel switching in flight.
I did not count amount of switching but even at short range it changes to 2.4.

Phone > OnePlus3
OTG > yes
CE > yes
Parabolic reflectors > yes
Latest DJI GO app SW
Distance > 300+ (turned after 300 meter, no signal los etc whatsoever)

Cheers
Hans

I did not watch the video, but I know there is sometimes a lot switching, right now.
To your "Parabolic reflectors > yes"
That can be a reason for this, in special in close range.
You have to point them more or less all the time directly to the Spark

Hi All,

I have all latest FW and APP, no OTG used, when i set wifi to auto i get no switching between 5.8 and 2.4.
I tested up to 320m in 5.8 until i got the "weak transmission" messasge but no change to 2.4.

Any ideas as to why ?

Hi All,

I can imagine, that your phone (android?) can't switch to 5.8 GHz 149 to 161(?) in Wifi.
You are in europe!
But switching, in my understanding, would be needed to make the 2,4 Ghz (which your phone has occupied to the RC) available for the Spark.
But I may be wrong, amd Spark can connect 2.4 to the Spark AND stay 2.4 to the device.
Some router do, but that is reducing the speed of the connection to just under 50%
switch/switch/switch/switch/.......

Edit:

Can you switch manually?

I am on iOS , I can easily manually switch between 2.4 and 5.8 but when I heard some people saying that it now switched automatically with the new .0701 I thought I would try it out.

But it does not seem to work with me .?

So maybe your area is, at least from the p.o.v. of the Spark, "cleaner" in 5.8?
You could try one more thing,  to fly a bit longer and behind the "weak transmission",  to "disconnect".
There it should happen, methinks

Will have a go next time the weather allows.
I can understand it using 5.8 at first as this should be best in any area with any wifi interference but I would have thought it would change to the longer range 2.4 once it detected any significant drop in signal.
Might end up being that I would be best just using 2.4.
I also thought that if I chose "custom" then selected 2.4, then "auto" that it would hop between the strongest 2.4 channel but it just seems to stay on the selected channel until the go4 is closed then returns to 5.8 on start up.

So tried going beyond the "weak transmission signal" warning to see if spark would change to 2.4 in "auto" mode
Unfortunately not ....all I got was "signal lost" "aircraft disconnected" ☹️☹️

I will try a longer distance flight, see if the 2.4 will be steady at a longer range....
Its so strange to see that so many Android Spark users encouter different software behaviour.

I am on Ios 11.0.3.
Question would be if being in "auto" in wifi setting doesn't change the band between 5.8 and 2.4 and also doesn't change channel within band to "best" channel, which i have tested,
What exactly does the "auto" button do ???

I don't think those (in the video) are actual WiFi band changes. They happen far too frequently and the signal strength is not affected by those changes. I believe when "auto" is selected, the Spark automatically chooses a band/channel at startup, whereas in "custom" it stays locked to a specific channel.

Am official statement from DJI concerning this behaviour would be nice ;)

i hope that you are wrong with this, i cannot believe that DJI will randomize the wifi icon from 2.4 to 5.8 and back again; just for the purpose of nothing....

So DJI moderators ; tell us how it works!!

I think it would be better if it switched channels to the strongest one on the go just like most other RC craft which use FHSS technology.

If you choose "auto", spark will choose a best channel when it takes off and it will not change during flight.

DJI Elekrra,

Did you watch my video at all? (first message here).

It is on "AUTO" and as you can see it changes channels quite often.

Are you sure about your saying that it wil not change during flight?

Cheers
Hans

OK, i will do that.

When i click on Data Upload i see the busy-waiting circle for minutes and minutes....
Did install it on an other PC and same problem, so i cannot upload data.

Is the requested data saved on the SC card? so yes, wich files do you need? I do find alot of THM files in the \\MISC\THM\100 map.

Cheers Hans

As stated earlier, I think this is a bug in the Android app maybe also related to the use of OTG the WiFi band doesn’t actually change.

Did you download the latest version of DJI Assistant 2? You can only export the data through assistant. Please try again by reinstalling your assistant.

I use W10 (latest update) on both computers.

A few days ago i did manage to export the black box data, just te see if it works after reading  a post on this forum. I did work, and deleted the files.

See this video >

What i did and noticed:
1) PC ON and SPARK off, connected via USB cable
2) Turn on Spark, see the external drive E and F on the list coming up
3) E is the memory card, indeed i can read the contents
4) DJI ass 2 ON ; noticed that the E drive kind of dissapear....
5) Download files does not work....waiting and waiting, guess the mem card is not readible now...

Any suggestions what to do '?

Best regards, Hans

Yes I did, tried all possible sequences of connecting....

Do not understand that the memory card get unaccesible when Ass2 (latest version on 2 computers) awakens...Also tried differnent memory cards...

Stupid thing is that few days go it did work! So where does DJI keeps the requested files?
Backbox data in the hardware of the SPARK, internal memory. Flight files on the mem card?

IDX, LOG and XCODE maps are empty, only corresponding THM files in the THM map.

Just to verify, did you have this situation when you connect your RC with wifi instead of OTG? Please note that using OTG may cause some unexpected problems.

This time i was using OTG, will see if i can this swithing behaviour using just wifi.
Guess it must be clear for your engineers to see if OTG is used in the black box data....

I know that OTG is not yet supported, but can u say anything about switching channels using OTG at all ?
Btw, what is the data field "RcGyro" gives me for information ?
