I'm in Phantom mode, with standard remote.  Do I just turn it off?

In Phantom mode, that is the only way to enter RTH.

If you have everything set up correctly, yes, turning off the remote should initiate a RTH.  If you have your remote set so FAILSAFE is on the down position of S1, it will initiate a RTH in failsafe mode.
