EASILY visible from that distance. I also use the 4 led unit as a downlight in non-strobe mode as a landing light.

i dont need strobes for direction , i use the map :-P

The MAX I've had my Spark is 7500 feet (about 2.25 km). That was ONCE and under ideal conditions. If you plan to fly in town near wifi, radio signals, power lines expect much, MUCH shorter range. In town i probably average 2000-2500 feet (0.6-0.75km). Getting a higher vantage point can help your range also. Even my Mavic Air cuts out early in town some times. You'll probably get much farther distances from the Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro. I believe both use Occusync tech.

I just reached 3040 meters one way!
All stock, the connection was solid the whole flight.

how did you fly so long with 0 % of battery left?

Forget about that long range info,, realistically you going to get about 400 meters,, and you also need to consider VLOS!!!

First of all, it's not mine flight, I just linked somebody's else flight.
Second... well, you need to understand how DJI battery works... it's not just the battery but battery and the controller for it. It's kind of piece of electronics doing some intelligent stuff. It basically measures voltage and "guesses" remaining capacity so it's not direct measurement nor 100% correct. And there is another battery below original one that charges original one literary in-flight so this setup causes some errors in readings.... there is also some reserve built in by DJI so 0% is not exactly 0%. Then there is battery temperature variable but I will stop here as it will just get waaaay too complicated.
Anyway, when DJI says it's 0% it's still some juice in there as a reserve.

My top round trip is 6437 meters
I can’t reach 57 km per hour though, only 53 ;)

Dude, there are youtube videos of the spark reaching qell over a mile and i have had mine out about 4500 feet. So... there is that. Say whatever you want about it but it is absolutely possible.

Normaly in downtown areas i can fly like 500 meters, open areas 1 km is easy for spark. But as someone says it all depends! To get 500 meters in the city i always fly like 50 to 80 meters in altitude. If you fly very low altitudes the signal get lost very quick and you go like no more than 200 meters.
The link below is from some videos i took it here in Brazil in different areas and at 6:00 minutes you can see 2 buildings at the center of the screen. i am on top of one of then and the drone was about 600 meters from me with perfect signal! Have in mind that in a busy area you will get 400 meters average at best.

I just got my spark drone last week.. it came with the parabolic range extender. I few mine 3,287 feet and unfortunately after coming close to some power lines, the signal dropped. If you're in a good spot outside the city, you can get quite a bit more than that. In the city though, it will rally depend on how far away you are from environmental interference. Great drones but I'd be careful about taking it much more than a mile out unless you're in an optimum environment with the range extender and at a line of sight elevation.

1.3kms is the most I have got.

As you are in NZ I think you will be falling under CE mode. Which won’t allow you to go over 500 meters distance. Which to me is a terrible, horrible and disgusting range. Hahahhahahaha
You can easily switch your spark to FCC mode. You will only need an android device in order to trick the drone so it thinks you are in the US.
FCC mode is much more stable and reliable. Mine is hacked into fcc mode. My record is 4.5km distance from the home point, all over the sea without obstacles. In the city it goes 2.5 km distance from the home point.

I think that you will find that the Parabolic reflectors are actually to focus the return signal from the drone not to focus the transmit signal.

Just like a satellite dish.

I got , once, a surprising 3km+ out of the normal FCC setup.
That time I returned b/c  of the Spark was already "a bit" behind the RTH-Point and I don't wanted to risk to have to search my bird b/c of "critical battery landing"
But I got a couple of 2km, 2.5km before and after
Not doing that really any more, maximum in the past 6 month was 1500ish meter, I think

Personally I don't fly further away than 300m. The Spark is very small and keeping it in sight can get tricky. Also it isn't allowed by law in the EU to fly far away ( 500m - to be confirmed )
What kind of shots do you plan? 2-4 km away: remember you have max 10-12min of flight time.

I regularly fly mine between 1000 and 2000 every time I take off with it

In the US - you have to keep in sight at all times per regulation ,unless you get a 107 license and get a waiver from the FAA etc..

In that case you can go about a mile with the spark in perfect conditions

line of site is rule most people break from time to time just like most people go 5 to 10 MPH over the speed limit. Although getting caught speeding is much more common!!!!!

With most countries with LOS (line of site) flying regulations, I found that any distance over 500 m is already too far.

if you want long distances get a mavic drone . in eu mode the Spark performance is flakey after 300 meters.

He didn’t ask what drone to buy, he wants to know the range spark pilots are getting on average with the drone he has already purchased. I have the spark and it is not flakey after 300. You must be in a hot WIFi area.

I’ve got 1.5km out of mine on a beach in Northern Ireland, with no disruption in signal at all. Pretty sure I could have got much further out of it had I chanced it. Not bad going considering I’m “restricted” by CE mode.

I live in Hungary.  Above the fields, 1.6km away I let go of the spark.  The relationship was stable.  The spark is in FCC mode.

I was using the cheap antennae range extenders and yes they do work.
