Just asking guys, I am x5s owner and I beleive in the DJI product.. I feel the lenses arent as sharp on this camera as if they were on the native Olypmus but still a massive improvment on the x5
I want to get the x7 as I feel the development of new lenses to match the camera and sensor should give much better results (still waiting for dji to upload still dng from the air to check quality)
I just want to ask your opinions on why this camera lens set up is sooo much more. People are comparing these to the arri and red cameras but all the processing components are inside these cameras
Am I right in saying the Cinecore/image processing is inside the Inspire 2, so is the camera just gimbal and sensor??
Lenses seem to be 4x the price of any other 2.8 prime lens, we have to pay $2200 here in australia for each lens... I know a lot of development went into these lenses to get them as light as possible and to create a new mount but other manufaturers have to do this with each lens..
Like to hear your views
cheers

These camera and the lenses are so expensive, because each one will be broken 2-4 times, and DJI will have to repair them or give You a new one every time.
So these fabulous carbon fiber lenses are in the same price like any other ;)
I know what I'm saying, it's my third X5S for one price :p

Or maybe they are so expensive, because will be bought by people who need them, no matter if they will cost same price or 4 times less.

Good glass is expensive. You have to consider the amount of product sold. If the demand is high the price is lower, low demand, higher price. Thats Life

yet to see if it is good glass, still haven't seen a test with them... just great footage that could have been taken on the x5s.. I want to see sharp 100%crop and color cast fix and Chromatic aberration fix etc etc

The Olympus 12mm should be sharp around f/3.5 to f/4.

Olympus did do a version change to the firmware in that lens back in Nov. 26, 2015 to version 1.1 which addresses the following:

1. Supports MF clutch (Snapshot Focus) disabled settings in camera settings.
2. Stability of lens aperture when shooting videos has been improved.

I have the 45mm lens and it went through two version changes to version 1.2 now.  When I bought it, it had only version 1.0 so who knows how long it sat.  I had to send it to Olympus Service as I had no Olympus camera body and their software to upgrade it and it cost me $140.  When I spoke to the repair tech, he said "It improved on the video quality" maybe due to #2 above.

Fwiw, there are two versions of the 12mm.  One was called "Limited Black" and the firmware is different for it.  Just what is different I don't know, but if you have a Panasonic camera you use the Olympus 12mm lens on and try to update the lens firmware, you have two options:

Normal 12mm Silver or Black:  Olympus 12mm normal lens for use on Panasonic body.

Limited Black 12mm:  Firmware update for Limited Edition 12mm lens on Panasonic body.

Most likely all of your concerns are addressed. I don't think DJI is in the business of manufacturing the glass for their lens' and therefore it is manufactured by one or more of the superior glass manufacturers. The entire lens itself may be made by one or more of the large lens manufacturers.

Not really addressed, I haven't heard a good reason for DJI charging this much... they have a major control of the drone market and is worrying what they will do to their customers on the next version... all the camera processing has already been purchased when I bought the inspire 2. I should be able to afford to buy multiple cameras not sell the x5s all the lenses and car to buy the next version of an apsc sensor..

Well it's clear that this market needs more competition. The poor quality control and dismal customer service are also a major issue.

Absolutely right, wish 3dr kept on going and built a bigger drone to hold mirrorless cameras. the 3dr solo was a great drone just the gopro wasn't a great aerial cam.
