I'm getting fed up with all these restrictions. I use a wifi only tablet to fly so if im not at home i have no internet connection. So it says i'm limited to hight and distance. This was not the case when i bought the drone. In the UK this means a product is no longer fit for purpose so would be entitled to my money back.

I own the drone DJI not you, you have no right to restrict it further than what it was set at when i purchased it.

Either remove this restriction or tell me where to send it for full refund.

Just log out of the Go app and log back in (just make sure you have internet when you do), you sometimes have to do this after an update. You wont have to keep doing this.

The latest APP requires to login your DJI account when you can access the network. Keep the status and do not log out manually, then you can still fly when the network is not available.

When you open the app click on ME bottom right and the click on the gear icon top right. Bottom middle says sign out.

That was well hidden, it would make more sense just to put it on the bar menu main screen.

If you have, you might set up a hotspot with your mobile phone.
That way your tablet can use a personal wifi network 'anywere'.

So what do you do when you are away from any internet connections?
Like in the bush somewhere in (for example) Sweden and you have no network whatsoever?

This is a once only thing, but sometimes after an update it needs doing again. If you do find yourself in that situation you can use your phone as a mobile hotspot if you have mobile data connection.

I know, but sometimes I don't have cell coverage (like in my hometown in one of the forests).
Now then it would not be a problem to start DJI Go4 in my home (with WIFI) and move to the forest.
But when I'm on holiday I don't always have cell coverage, sometimes not for several days.
So no option to start the DJI Go4 app and move to the 'not covered' area.
Now I'm wondering what will happen when I try to fly my drone and can't make a hotspot or whatever since there is no cell coverage around.

Ok, so if I am in a spot with no cell coverage, I would be ok. Only after an update I must make sure I start Go4 one time with coverage?
After that it won't be an issue? (until a new update)

You don’t need to sign in before every flight, once it’s done it remembers , it’s just after an update you might have to sign in, so good practice is after updating sign out and and sign back in.

I think it will work fine, you just need to login (with internet connected) once, after that you can even use airplane mode to fly

I don't actually understand the purpose of this "feature". It's a deliberate crippling/breaking of the drone.

You're right, you don't understand.
It may have been clumsily implemented but it's not crippling a drone.
It's simply a warning to log out and back in again and thereby eliminate what you think is a restriction.
Simply do that and there are NO restrictions.

a) How, exactly, do I log in when I don't have the internet?
b) What *purpose* does this logging in serve?

Edit: You're obviously more trusting than I am. I am offended that the hardware that I've paid for needs to "phone home" to be properly enabled. There's something going on there that I don't quite trust.

a.  You do it when you do have internet ... and then you won't have to worry about it again.
And then you can fly wherever/whenever you want without anything phoning home.

I'm trusting because I understand what it does and what it doesn't do.
Like I said it may be clumsily implemented but it won't stop you flying, it won't phone home and you've got nothing to worry about.

DJI brought it in as part of their response to firmware hacking.

It's something/nothing.
Don't worry about it.

I fly all the time with no internet connection and everything works just fine.
No-one's spying on you.

If you think this measure will stop the firmware and/or the software being hacked then... *sigh*

I didn't say what I think it would do.
I was answering your question about why it was brought in.
But logging in isn't expected to do anything.
It was updating to current firmware that achieves the desired level of security.

I agree, more the opposite as being a challenge to bypass the attempts to limit the users.
And neither Login or strange Quiz will stop people doing stupid things if they want to, it only gives trouble for all the rest.

....then you may call the "Microsoft Security Department" or was it from Apple or Google

Now serious:What do you know about triggers like switch on or off stair case lights automatically?
You use a button to initiate a relais to switch on the light and the same button to switch it off, right?
Exactly is it with signing in or off the account for the app initiates the Firm ware to let the copter fly with or without the restrictions.
