It depends on A LOT of conditions -antenna orientation, signal obstructions, atmospheric conditions, electromagnetic noise., etc, Similarly, battery life depends on LOTS of factors, like speed, height, weather conditions, wind speed. The specs are probably representative of ideal conditions. Actual results may be substantially lower. It's wise to check the conditions and know the limitations of the AC before departing on a long flight. If you get a weak signal, check your antenna orientation, maybe raise the AC to a higher altitude (less obstruction and inteference) - and if the problem persists, bring it in closer. Personally, I seldom fly over 2 km, because that's about as far as I can see it. Make your outbound leg against the wind so you'll have a tailwind on return (in case battery is low). Be cautious while you're getting used to the AC - hopefully, you'll learn the limitations without a catastrophe. |
