I am thinking about buying the original Mavic Pro but read about the issues with 1080 on framerates higher than 30fps. Are they still present in the latest firmware on the original MP?
If possible, can someone share a 1080 60p video shot with the latest firmware?

And there are some rumors the Platinum does not have this issue (something with a red sticker on the gimbal instead of the yellow one).
Maybe there is a Platinum owner that can also confirm if he/she has the issue.

I know 2.7k does a better job, but (for now) my workflow is optimized for HD editing. (my PC has a hard time rendering higher resolutions) so I would like to be able to shoot 1080 50p or 60p

Thanks  in advanced.

Peter

Hi Peter,

I thought that you already owned and fly a Mavic for a long time.
I cannot confirm but this is my thought:
A product is developed by certain specifications, why would they change the camera and or sensor, video processing board somewhere in the middle of production?
Maybe improve parts or change to other supplier for cost effective reasons but not to change specifications of a designed product.. i think.
Really hope for you and others that the problem is less visual with maybe some software improvements.

For about 1500 euro you can have a nice editing pc and even proces 4k.
*addition cost for getting the wow footage, neatvideo plugin, ND filters extra 200 euro.
If you wan to save money, why not buy the spark.. this gives your the 1080P you need?
Good luck, if you find some you tube video with examples I really would like to see

Apparently the 1080p 60fps is only fixed via hardware, i.e. Mavic Pro Platinum.

So you still have that on your MP now?
(on the latest firmware)?
There are some video's online that claim it improved a while ago on the original MP.

Why 60 fps?, do you used it for slowmotion?

Why 60 fps?, do you used it for slowmotion?

2 occasions when I like the higher framerate.
1. When filming fast moving objects (like a train), I like the output more at the higher framerate (50fps). (with my videocam at least)
Shutterspeed around 1/100s gave me very fluid result.
I also tested at 25fps and 1/50s, that gave a less fluid result.
2. And indeed when I want a 50% slow motion effect

Otherwise  I only shoot at 25fps

This was recorded on my Mavic Pro (purchased just a few weeks ago) in 1080p at 60FPS and output on a 30FPS timeline so I could do some slow motion shots.

I must say I am impressed.
I don't see any of the hard lines etc. you see in some complaints.
Do you recall your video settings?

Supposedly mpp fixes this with a new hardware change to camera dji would never announce this because they never announced this as being a problem so they quietly fixed it also new mavic pros sept forward are suppised to have this new camera hardware also some users indicate the red tab above the gimbal signifies this....mine was a may batch so my sticker above gimbal was yellow

Yes I must admit I’ve been wandering what all the fuss is about as well, unless DJI quietly fixed the issue, as I only purchased it three weeks ago.

Anyway, settings were D-Cinelike, style custom with sharpness +1, contrast and saturation both zero. Shutter speed would have been around 1/120, but the sun was making it didfficult so could have been a bit faster as I was quite flexible in the 180 shutter rule that day :-)

Correct, just the normal Mavic Pro (and a yellow tab on camera). I'm very happy with it (and that is having previously owned the Inspire 1 with X3 and Inspire 2 with X5S gimbal).

Yep, received my brand new MP Alpine White on Wednesday evening of this week having decided to buy another via Apple on line after the horror of my first one and it's completely perfect!
I flew it today for the first time - 3 back-to-back batteries with both the 8330 and 8331 props to total 1 hour, 8 minutes in the air landing each time on 15-20% battery. This is by no means my first Mavic but the image quality has clearly improved. The serial number dates to the end of September '17 and it had a yellow tab. I tried 1080p @ 60p and it's like a different drone.
Whether it's the FW updates in September or yesterday or DJI have indeed upgraded the internals nobody knows but it has definitely improved IMO and NO HORIZON TILT ISSUES - my first ever drone to have a straight horizon. Given that the Alpine is based on the original Mavic I don't think this is specific to the Platinum but the red vs. yellow tab is a bit of a mystery.

Check the serial number when you get it on the sticker inside the battery compartment of the drone. There is a forum called Mavic pilots and some whiz kids cracked how to determine when your Mavic was built from the serial number. My new Alpine dates to 27 September 2017 and given that the FW update from mid September was already installed by DJI upon unboxing the date adds up.

Hi Peter,

No I actually just ordered one
The reason not to get Spark is it's fixed 30fps framerate.
Otherwise I might have bought that one.
The 1080p is just what my other camera's shoot now. So if I want to combine footage, I'd like to shoot in that resolution with my MP. At least I'd like to have the option

Yes, I will receive a new laptop soon. It should be decent enough for 4K editing I guess.
(i7 -7700HQ, 16Gb mem, 6GB videocard.) but it will (a lot of) time before my other 2 camera's are updated to 4K editing.

I will test how my MP does handle 1080 50p as soon as I feel confident to fly

The website does not work anymore, but they have included a list to find year - month - day of production.
