Hi all,

Can you guide me through the post workflow for the DJI Inspire - in terms of editing with AVID Media Composer 8?

I have a 1080p project and will screen the final product on a 1080p projector.

However, the footage is 4K.

Avid cannot read 4K, if I'm not mistaken.

So I must transcode, is this correct?

Can someone guide me through that process step-by-step? Do I need a plug-in?

Much appreciated, thank you!

Hi Aliktamar,

Yes the process is quite simple.
1. Open your new project and create a new bin.
2. Use AMA link to select all your footage
3. This should then link very quickly and you will see all your footage has appeared in your bin
4. Select the sections that you want to use by dropping them down onto the timeline
5. After you have made your rough timeline, duplicate this timeline into a new bin
6. You can then transcode the sequence into a native Avid codec DNXHD (If you have the latest version of Avid you can now edit in 4K but your need a good computer)
7. All your clips will now be ready for editing and will be playable in realtime.

Or you can just choose import file from the bin and select your clips, it will then transcode the whole clip as it loads into the system. If you have lots of space between your shots this could take a long time to import all the clips.

I'm lucky enough to have several linked edit suites so I just get one of my minions to load it in for me when I'm busy cutting something else in the other room!

Hope this helps and good luck with your project
