Wrong. I get a flawless 4K workflow in all cases. I don't need to convert anything. I edit the native h.264 and even the native 4K .r3d RED RAW file in my NLE of choice (without effects of course) 1080p is recommended to whom? Not to me. If you have the hardware to support 4K editing 4K editing is recommended. In the case your system cannot keep up working with the native 4K files, create proxy media and work with proxies until you're ready to render/export final project.

FYI the DJI LOG is just CineStyle so the CineStyle S Curve included with LUT Utility (or any app that supports CineStyle's LUT) is generally useful with DJI LOG footage if you're just looking at outputting quickly / without doing much additional grading work. I actually find using CineStyle S on DJI LOG then correcting from there (raising the blacks a bit, especially) is a good start for quick and dirty work or for "pure video" work that isn't looking for a cinematic feel.

GoPro "Protune" is also CineStyle as well, fwiw.

Sorry but this isn't correct at all.

FCP X and Premier Pro CC support Phantom 3 and Inspire 1 4K media (MOV or MP4) without issue and without the need for third party conversion tools. You're just wasting money and potentially downloading bloat/spy/shovelware if you install something like "Brorsoft Media Converter".
"Beyond the compatibility" is especially amusing terminology given that FCP-X will take RED footage in 5k without issue as well. Me thinks REDCODE @ 5k > H.264 at 60Mbps, even at UHD/4k ;)

Even if you wanted to convert your MOV/MP4 files to ProRes HQ as an intermediate work format, FCP X will do this for you automatically (just check to create optimized copies and/or proxy copies as you desire).
