Thanks.  The Longdendale trail extends about 11 Kms along the series of reservoirs as far as Woodhead pass. The scenery is magnificent in the summer, and the view is marred only by the pylons and high tension cables along one side of the valley. In winter, with the trees bare of leaves and the sun low above the hills, it is somewhat greyer.

Great video. I’ve driven through there many a time and never realised that’s there.

Thanks. I'm told that the aeration of the water imparted by the water jet improves oxygenation, and so makes the aquatic environment better for the flora and fauna downstream. It's a popular fishing river as it approaches the Goyt valley.

Thanks.  The curve of concrete teeth protruding from the water are to capture fallen trees and other flotsam before they pass into the gulley and cause a logjam.

My word that's going back a bit   Yes it's pot luck as to whether it's operating when you pass by, but it's quite spectacular when the reservoirs are full.

I assume you can't get close to it,  I could see the kids flocking there on a hot day.

It is fenced off, but not in any secure way.

Anyone reckless enough to ignore the warnings must take responsibility for their own actions if they fall in. As far as I know it's never happened.
