It's stated that the phantom 3 battery is not compatible with P2 kit or chargers. Different amount of cells (1 extra) & higher voltage.

The Phantom 2 batterie is a S3 LIPO with 11 Volt and the Phantom 3 batterie is a S4 LIPO with 14 Volt. You Need a new car charger.

How about this one, it is for the P3. It is on ebay for about $15.  Has anyone had any experiences using this one?

Unless that has some kind of voltage converter...which I'm sure it doesn't....it will not work with a P3 battery.  This charger is going to be 12 V.

It's probably good.  Plenty of room in that plug for electronics.  YMMV

Use something like that at your own risk.  Or I should say the risk of your $150 batteries.  A $15 charger IMO is not worth the risk of ruining my batteries.
I plan on getting a pure sine wave inverter and using the factory charger.  A LOT more money....but a lot safer on your high dollar batteries.
But...it's entirely up to you.  This is just my opinion.  It would be great if that charger would work fine and not damage our batteries.  I'd be one of the first to buy one.

thanks, yeah that is why I was asking if anyone has had experienced using it. I totally get your point though, cheap product likely not safe to use on expensive battery!  And up here in Canada we are paying $200 CN per battery!

i agree with qualifier on not worth experimenting with different chargers with the $150 P3 battery at risk. in my opinion, with all the technology put into the P3 and its "intelligent" battery, i would not want to interrupt the electronic operations in any way of the battery or drone itself. electricity can be mysterious at times and who knows if it could cause some time of failure..this is of course a worst case scenario, but i like to limit my options to upsetting the system itself.

I got one of these works perfect and no you don't need a pure sine wave inverter as the power is regulated with these little chargers.

I assume you have done a number of charges using it?  And you have not noticed any issue with the battery.

I have done 15 or so charges with this and not an issue. The whole pure sine wave inverter thing is a scamm. There only useful if the piece of equipment you are using doesn't have a regulated power supply.
So as has been written here people are wasting dollars on buying a pure sine wave inverter only to plug in the dgi regulated charger/power supply.

I have one of the cheap car chargers.  Works great.  Don't forget, the only thing you're doing is giving the "battery" voltage.  All of the charging is done within the battery itself.

15 bucks is a good deal if they don't damage the batteries.
