Sorry if it seems I tried to put them down, this was certainly not my intention. They are incredible pieces of machinery and it is amazing that they take so well to the air. I am fascinated by the entire history of aviation. In the past there have been so many great accomplishments and unbelievable feats of achievement made. To name just a non exclusive few, I could call to mind perhaps:
The gliders of Otto Lilienthal.
The Wright Flyer at Kitty Hawk.
The Spirit of St. Louis.
The Spruce Goose.
The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird.
But even before these there are the Chinese stories of man-lifting kites that go back more than a thousand years.
