I happen to also have an App called 'Verifly' which enables to you buy insurance per hour. I have homeowners property insurance but anything extra is part of a prudent backup plan.

It's 2 years from the date of issue, I believe it is just an on line refresher course required after the first 2 years, going to check with the company I used that provided the testing, will let you know tomorrow.

The date of issue is the date on which you completed the IACRA. As QuadKid said, the certification is valid for two years after that date.

ok doesn't really matter to me. We have so many dates during the application process i wasn't sure.

Ok the down & dirty is we have to re-certify every 2 years, your current cert will expire 2 years from the issue date, this includes taking the complete test and paying the fee again.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping that changed but it hasn't. I'll keep myself up to date when my 24 months gets close. I can pass it again if needed. All of us that took the exam have an advantage now. Like riding a bicycle

For a sec I though it was just an online quick refresher thing... . guess not.

Would've been a nice quicker process right? Take a refresher course and that's it.

I wonder who will be the first here to have to renew their certification? My date of issue is 10/14/2017 so i know i am not lol

There seems to a number of PT107 pilots on here so who knows.  Hopefully the process will be a lot quicker would be my guess.

I work for a TV station and would like to provide (sell) them pics for the news set background monitors, but the company policy is to only hire certified pilots, so I will have to complete the cert before I can sell to them. Seems fair enough. Perhaps I can shoot now and sell when I get the cert -? Do they have to know WHEN I did the work?

Perfect example of why it's a good thing to have the cert. You just never know when you'll need it. In that situation it depends on where you're taking these shots. If the area scene/shoot is complicated with a lot variables then I'd say wait until your certified because you'll need to follow a set of procedures and of course get a waiver.

I received my letter from the FAA about listing my name and address or not listing my name and address. Will have to think about that i guess.

Yeah I'd thought so. I took mine in Nov 2017 so you'll definitely have your card soon.

In terms of electing to have info public info, don't know about you but for me, it's no way jose election.

ya i got my card a few weeks ago. I've been posting the progress so you will have an idea when you will get this same stuff.......and i think this is it unless they send something saying my expiration is coming due? Deal with that when the time comes.

I just got my part 107 and actually a really great insurance quote. If you haven't tried https://bwifly.com/aviation-insurance/drones/ definitely give them a shot!
My agent is Haley and I can send her a certificate (additional insured) request and get them added in a few hours during the day. They also say they are open 12 hours a day with live help. Probably worth the investment for some peace of mind!!

If you want to use it on a PC you can email them, give them your purchase info and they will give you a couple weeks at their website to study. Nice app i think.

65% is a pass, and as I recall I think there was 30 questions.

now that was just for the basic certificate, the advance certificat is an 80% pass mark and I think there is about 50 or so questions.

just went and looked it up , 50 multiple questions,  you need a 80% pass mark, you have 60 minutes to answer the questions.

Tougher standards there with just an hr to complete within the 80 percentile.
